We know Reading pending points deduction but has Birmingham’s been mentioned yet? Problem though is it’d be suspended https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/birmingham-efl-charges-points-deduction-29268122
I think I saw that. Most likely outcome would be a 6 point deduction but suspended subject to a futher breach.
I think Reading will get their deduction because they've already got 6 points pending held over from last season.
Ince wince.............. https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/...fc-boss-braced-six-point-deduction-this-week/
Yes, just saw that. Now very relevant with Reading's likely 6 point deduction and poor goal difference.
Time to get the slide rules out. 33 points available - will 10 of those putting us on 48 be enough for safety? Just been having a look. The last 12 Championship seasons, only twice have teams getting more than that gone down - Blackburn with 51 and Posh surprisingly with 54 in our first promotion season. That was a very tight season overall under Malky with just 46 points between top club (us) and bottom club Wurzel City who were themselves 10 points adrift of the 23rd spot above them - unbelievably Wolves. How times have changed, but perhaps the maths haven't?
Not a bad night for us in the end. Reading will be deep in it if they get the deduction. All clubs now played 35 games so our destiny is in our hands.
6 points above the drop and now in touch with a couple teams within a win above us. Need another win or two in the next few games to bring a few more into reach.
Wasn't it 5 wins that Smoochie reckoned would serve us well? We have a couple of really big games to come against teams around us and if we can pick up a couple of draws too along the way then we should be fine. Biggest risk now I'd say us any kind of overconfidence. After months of not being able to buy a win, picking up 3 in our last 4 hopefully won't go to our players heads. I can't imagine Smoochie or Sol allowing that to happen but still can't be too careful.
