They don't have cellars in Croydon

Something about a metaphor being a little on the nose

I just want them relegated because it’ll be funny.

3rd time this season I’ve not been able to watch us.

just as quickly as stellini’s record has evaporated, so has mine, having previously given us 2 wins in my absence.

I only have to read the comments on here to know it was another “one of those games” where we faced the inevitable late in the game.

as PNP says, Wednesday and Saturday are going to be very interesting in terms of toxicity.
Announcing strategic partnerships with go karts, and Tottenham becoming a “multi sport club” is not what the fans wanna see at the moment.

The phrase “Read the room” springs to mind.

I’m just so disconnected from it all.

The biggest issue yesterday wasn't that we didn't read the room, but we didn't read the game: Wolves made changes and we didn't respond to those changes at all, even when it was obvious we needed to

Bringing on Sarr and going 352 would have potentially allowed us to regain control of midfield which we'd lost during the second half, but we kept with the starting formation and just changed a couple of pieces, with the only tactical change being Richy replacing Davies in the 85th minute when we were already 1-0 down

Like it or not football produces strong emotions in it's followers. For some it is an all consuming interest for others it is just a part of life and maybe even just a diversion from the everyday. However big or small the part in your life it manages to become important to you whether you like it or not. Spurs are one of the most difficult teams to support because they hold out a promise that is usually not fulfilled. As Spurs fans we are always led to believe that success is around the next corner or two but when we turn that corner another long avenue stretches before us and often it's not an avenue at all just a cul-de-sac.

Since reaching the CL final it's been nothing but disappointment in a shiny new stadium that suggests we are one of the top teams. All fur coat and no knickers, and not listening. No wonder we are all getting disconnected.

I've been thinking this a lot lately.

Sometimes the best things to say is nothing at all and yet the club has seemingly been so blasé with media posts and statements/ announcements that it makes you realise they really are so out of touch with the fanbase at present.

I don't really care either way about these things, apart from them being an attempt to make money.
The club should be trying to improve it's financial situation. It would be silly not to.

I don't understand people (not you) who see this as an alternative to winning trophies.
The clubs with the most money tend to win the most trophies. It's almost the opposite.

I do feel quite disconnected, though. The whole thing just seems corrupt as ****.
If it's not the owners or the dodgy finances, then it's the officials or the organisations.
You can't trust any of them and it seems to be getting worse by the day.

I doubt even the most optimistic of us would believe that, if we won yesterday, we'd have been a point off 3rd with a better goal difference

And yet that's what bloody happened...

Arsenal aside, the overall quality and consistency in the league this season has been shockingly poor. Might be a World Cup thing as La Liga and Serie A have also seen a significant dip.

Who'd have thought that playing a WC in mid-season, in 90 degree heat could possibly negatively impact the domestic leagues? <doh>

There is the psychological blow as well. For many players, this would've been their last chance to represent their country on the biggest stage of them all. It is only natural that the disappointment of defeat or an early exit will weigh down on them. Hugo has admitted as much recently regarding his abysmal form since returning. A player will usually have a solid 4-6 weeks of summer and pre season to work those emotions out of the system as opposed to being dumped back into the middle of a domestic season after as little as 10 days respite.

    Bang on

This is why I’m done with it

no more round the corner, just a little bit more, just to find another long road and off we go again

Worse still, the fans who say

‘woooooo, another road, this road is the road that will bring out the best of my clapped out motor…let’s start driving’

Son scored a last minute winner away against Villa a few years back playing with a broken arm for almost the whole game so I don’t think his facial injury has affected him this season, he’d been poor before that anyway.

It’s just been a tough season for him unfortunately. As it has been for most players and especially us fans. In fact, I’d say only one player was consistently brilliant this season and it’s the one that’s been ruled out for it - Bentancur - Spursy!

Kane’s scoring but not playing to his best.
    Son poor.
    Kulu poor last couple months.
    Richarlison awful.
    Midfield have been so-so.
    WBs have largely been terrible.
    Defence have largely been poor.
Keepers have been full of mistakes.

With key players plus new signings who’d been excellent at previous clubs (Perisic and Bissouma) largely being below par, along with new signings in general having little impact, it can’t just be a coincidence that all players have just dropped off a cliff in terms of form. Something must be causing it and I’d say a lot of fingers point to coaching and tactics. The only good bit of coaching this season has come from Gianni Vio on our set pieces, we’d be about 12 points worse off without him and likely already out of the CL.

Yeah been too long a journey now and too many false dawns to get invested and excited again.

For me from Jol to Poch, it felt like a long upwards journey with a few bumps in the road but generally the club was constantly improving. Then the last 4 years have been a mishmash of wrong managers and expensive flops and falling away from the top. Now I don’t want to see another 5-10 period of trying to rebuild the squad and get the club a trophy.

So what do you want ??
As a Spurs supporter, what is the minimum you
expect for every season that you watch games ??
