It must be approaching silly season!! http://www.caughtoffside.com/2011/11/08/liverpool-make-34-2m-bid-for-barcelona-star-david-villa/ 29 is a bit old for our current policy, but I recon he could be sold on to FC Anzhi Makhachkala for a healthy profit in a few years.
Reports are coming in that Barcelona are willing to sell David Villa. He is not going to come cheap and Chelsea and Liverpool are fighting for his signature.Attacking options has been identified as one of Liverpool weaknesses. Roman Abramovich vs John Henry in transfer market. Abramovich can break the bank to get what he wants, I am not sure if John Henry is going to pay over the odds for a player approching 30.Having said that, Liverpool, some people said they paid over the odds for some players over the last twelve months.
Has a good season or two left in him but since hes never played in the PL before its a gamble(expensive one).
at 29 we will only be selling him for a nominal fee in 4 years time to the MLS so if we did buy him I'd hope no more than 25 mil tbh. Having said that he'd be a great addition and could see him setting the prm alight and being a solid first team player for a few years.
We definately need a striker, Villa would be amazing but i can think of a few younger players who would be better. Might be worth it just to see Torres's face when he joined though. I expect Chelsea would out muscle us on this one awayway.
2 things .. 1. it's caughtoffside.lies 2. in the piece they have It is believed Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is on the lookout for another striker to act as back-up for Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll.
It would be a CRAZY move to spend this amount of money on a player his age.Very short term move, you could get 2 players of similar ability who would last you 10 years for the same price. Personally I think its rubbish anyway
Football journalists with too much time on their hands and not enough real stories to fill up website space
It's even worse Roger! Just noticed that the source was Caughtoffside - since when was that a credible sorce? But Lettuce is still a boring vegetable
The only two Liverpool rumours today (on the BBC) are linking us to Barca players, Villa and Keita, and both stories have come from the two most unrealiable sources, Caughtoffside and talksport. Its almost as if these journo's think that if they make up enough rumours that one will stick and they can claim credit for it.
Realistic odds of Villa to LFC in Jan , about 50/1 Id say.Besides £30m for someone his age is obscene.. If this hasnt come from some journo just makin stuff up which is what it probably is, I would guess the source is from someone in Barce who will probably be trying to offload Villa in the next 18 months, for a ridulously overflated fee, so they can get someone just as good 8-10 yrs younger, for less.Barcelona are THE best in the world in the transfer market by a mile.Masch for £18m and Fabregas for less than £35m, both should have be valued £10-15m more than that.I would be very very very reluctant to do any business with Barce cos they rip u off every time
