    I've had a few different digital tickets from safc tbh. I've had QR codes to download into Google wallet, pdf with a QR code on then zoom in and scan at the turnstile and then stuff for eppleton for the lasses games which is just a pdf ticket to show someone on the turnstile. All have worked no probe but not really any consistency.

    Considering they can't send emails to Gmail accounts I'd imagine the first home game next season will be a right barrel of laughs. <laugh>

    My dad was confused about digital season tickets even by just talking about it today.

    Has anything been said about kids tickets etc? Doesn't affect me but how are you meant to scan 2 tickets on one phone for example? Seems like this is something they should have asked fans about before deciding on the change.

    You will need both QR codes on your phone. You will need to lean in and scan one and the bairn can go through the turnstile then scroll to the other QR code then you can go through. Had to do that for a few Papa John's games.

    And they reckon that's quicker than me giving the bairn his season card physically at the Stokoe statue for him to them touch it on the scanner to do it himself at the turnstile. <doh>

    FAQs are in this link regarding the digital season cards. It would appear they are going to utilise NFC technology in the same way you can pay with your phone and screen shots won't work.

    FAQS: 2023-24 DIGITAL SEASON TICKETS
    Supporters will have a new way to enter the Stadium of Light on matchdays from the 2023-24 season, with the launch of digital season tickets.

    You will receive your 2023-24 digital season ticket via email and will be able to download and store it directly to your smart device (smartphone or smartwatch) using Apple Wallet (IOS) or Google Wallet (Android).

    The adoption of digital season tickets replicates many other Premier League and EFL Clubs and follows the successful introduction of digital only match tickets at the Stadium of Light in 2022.

    Ahead of the new season, the Club will be producing a wealth of resources, including video tutorials and ‘how to’ guides, to ensure all are supported throughout the transition from physical season cards to digital season tickets.

    Why are Sunderland AFC moving to digital season tickets?
    A digital season ticket is the safest, most convenient, and flexible way to receive your match ticket, whilst increasing security and protection against fraud. It will also improve supporters’ matchday experience by speeding up entry at the turnstiles, and forms part of the Club’s long-term sustainability goals to reduce paper and plastic use.



    How can I renew or purchase a digital season ticket?
    All 2023-24 digital season tickets renewed online via the Club’s e-ticketing platform will be processed free of charge. Supporters wishing to renew in-person advised that a £10 service charge will be incurred.

    Please be advised that the Stadium of Light ticket office will not process digital season tickets renewals on first team matchdays to reduce queues and ease congestion. This information will be clearly signposted at the Stadium of Light ticket office in addition to being communicated directly to supporters on matchdays upon joining the queue.



    What are digital season tickets?
    Digital season tickets are mobile passes that are stored within Apple Wallet or Google Wallet on your smart device (smartphone or smartwatch).

    Digital season tickets use NFC technology (Near Field Communication) and will be used from the start of the 2023-24 season for secure contactless entry into the Stadium of Light by presenting your device to the reader at the turnstile.



    What mobile devices are supported?
    Apple:

    • • Apple Watch Series 1 and later
    • • All Face ID iPhones and all Touch ID iPhones, except 5s
    All devices should be updated to the latest software versions. Please click here for further details.

    Android:

    • • Android Phones supporting Google Wallet.
    Please note, almost all android devices now support Google Wallet. Google Wallet. must be installed and up to date, and NFC must be enabled.

    To check if your Android phone has NFC, follow these steps:

    • • Open Settings
    • • In the 'search settings’ bar, type 'NFC'
    • • Tap and turn on NFC
    • • If you can't find NFC, your phone will not support digital season tickets

    Can I have multiple digital season tickets on a single smart device (smartphone or smartwatch)?
    Yes, multiple digital season tickets can be downloaded to a smart device (smartphone or smartwatch). Once selected, you can swipe left and right to view all digital season tickets.



    What if I do not have a smart device?
    If you don’t have a smart device (iPhone, Apple Watch, Android Phone, or smartwatch), you can send your email containing the link to your digital season ticket to a friend or family member you are attending with, who can download the ticket onto their phone and enter with you.
    The Club is also conscious that some digital season ticket holders may not have access to a smart device (smartphone or smartwatch) and we will work with you to provide a solution on a case-by-case basis to ensure no supporter is excluded from the 2023-24 renewal or purchase process.

    If you do not have access to a smart device (smartphone or smartwatch), please visit the Stadium of Light ticket office following the renewal period, email [email protected], or contact your local supporters’ branch, who will liaise with the Club directly to ensure you additional support.



    Where can I find details of the Club’s digital support drop-in service?
    The Club will be running a digital support drop-in service at the Beacon of Light in partnership with the Foundation of Light and subject to demand, and to ensure the service is accessible to all supporters requiring assistance, the Club is also exploring an additional digital support touchpoint in the city centre.

    Details of the digital support drop-in service, including confirmed venues and opening hours, will be communicated shortly via the Club’s digital platforms and match programme, and external print publications including the Sunderland Echo.



    Can I enter the stadium with a screenshot of my digital season ticket?
    No, as digital season tickets utilise NFC technology and not barcode functionality.

    Therefore, a screenshot of your digital season ticket or the email confirming your digital season ticket WILL NOT permit you entry to the stadium on a matchday.

    You need to download your digital season ticket from the link in your booking confirmation email.



    What if my phone has no Wi-Fi or signal?
    Your smart device (smartphone or smartwatch) does not require Wi-Fi connectivity or signal on matchday as long as your digital season ticket is already in your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet prior to arriving at the Stadium of Light.

    All supporters are strongly advised to download their digital season tickets into their Apple Wallet/Google Wallet as soon as they receive their email and prior to matchday.



    What if my phone runs out of battery?
    You will not be able to gain entry if your phone is not charged. On matchday, please ensure that your mobile phone is fully charged.

    The Club will also be installing charging points at the Stadium of Light, with further details to be communicated shortly.



    What if I lose my phone or it is broken?
    If you lose your phone or it is broken, please contact the ticket office as soon as possible and you will be issued with a single match ticket until your device is found/replaced or repaired.



    What happens if I cancel my digital season ticket?
    When digital season tickets are cancelled, your mobile passes will be updated in your Apple Wallet/Google Wallet and greyed out, and you will no longer be able to tap for entry at the stadium.



    How will I receive my digital season ticket?
    As a 2023-24 digital season ticket holder, you will receive an email containing a link to download your digital season ticket to your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet on your smart device (smartphone or smartwatch).

    The Club will dispatch these emails from July and all emails will be sent to the payment owner.

    If you purchased multiple season tickets for supporters who are linked to your friends and family in one transaction, your email will include a link for each individual digital season ticket holder.

    You can choose to download all tickets to your smart device (smartphone or smartwatch) or forward the email to the individual ticket holders so that they can download their ticket to their own smart device (smartphone or smartwatch).

    All digital season ticket holders are urged to log into their online account to check that email address is correct.

    How do I add my digital season ticket to my Apple Wallet or Google Wallet?
    As stated above, you will receive your digital season ticket via email. Once this has been received, simply follow the steps below:

    • 1. Open your email on your smart device (smartphone or smartwatch)
    • 2. Tap on the ‘Add to Apple Wallet’ or ‘Save to Google Wallet’ button
    • 3. Complete the process to add the pass to wallet
    Important: To enter the stadium, your digital season ticket MUST be downloaded to your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

    We recommend that you download your digital season ticket as soon as you receive your email so that you are ready for matchday.



    I am trying to download my digital season ticket to my Google Wallet, but I am reviving an error message. How can I download my ticket?
    Please ensure that your default browser is set to Google Chrome on your mobile device before clicking the link in your email to download.

    If you are unsure how to check your default browser, please follow the steps below:

    • • Settings
    • • Select APPS
    • • Select 3 dots and click 'default apps'
    • • Check default browser. If not Google Chrome, change to Chrome
    • • Now try download link again

    How do I know if my digital season ticket has loaded correctly to my Apple Wallet or Google Wallet?
    You can check to see if this process has been successful by scrolling through your live passes in Apple Wallet or the ‘Passes’ tab of Google Wallet.



    How to I access the stadium with my digital season ticket?
    To enter the stadium, your digital season ticket MUST be downloaded into your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

    We recommend that you download your digital season tickets as soon as you receive your email so that you are ready for matchday.

    Once at the stadium, as you approach the turnstile, open your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and locate the correct ticket.

    Please also ensure that you do not have any bank or other contactless cards at the back of your phone case.

    To gain access, look for the contactless NFC logo on the reader and simply tap your phone close to the screen as indicated.

    If you have multiple tickets on one device, remember to scan them at the turnstile one at a time.



    I have my child’s digital season ticket and my digital season ticket on my phone. How do we enter the turnstile with just one phone?
    Ideally, each supporter would have their own smart device (smartphone or smartwatch), however we do understand not everyone has a personal smart device (smartphone or smartwatch), particularly our younger supporters.

    More than one digital season ticket can be loaded to one smart device (smartphone or smartwatch), although each digital season ticket can only be loaded once.

    If your child or anyone in your group does not have a smart device (smartphone or smartwatch) with mobile wallet or NFC capability, we would recommend loading their ticket to your smart device (smartphone or smartwatch).

    When accessing tickets on your smart device (smartphone or smartwatch), you will be able to swipe left and right between different tickets to find the correct one to scan.

    When approaching the turnstile, please have the child's ticket ready first, scan that digital season ticket and let the child go through the turnstile before scanning and entering on your own digital season ticket.



    I have deleted my pass. How to I re-add my digital season ticket?
    Digital season tickets are only sent once, so please do not delete your pass from your mobile device.

    If you delete it inadvertently, please try to locate the original email you were sent containing the link to download. You should find that you are still able to download it using the original email link.

    If you are unable to re-download your digital season ticket, please contact us as soon as possible by emailing [email protected].

    They will be in for a big shock when there is a big drop in season ticket sales. Lots of people do not have or want a smart phone, and quite frankly it is insulting to those people to more or less tell them to buy one. Arrogance will be rewarded with loss of revenue to the club.

    That's not what they're saying though. Anyone who doesn't get a season ticket will do so because they don't want one, not because they can't access one. From the Q&A:

    So in other words it is not compulsory. Why did they not say this when they first advertised it. Would this "solution" be a physical season card or are they going to provide one on one help to all the people without a smart phone, because it sounds very time consuming and expensive to do just that. Idiots reinventing the wheel imho
