Negatives: not being able to score goals in sufficient numbers to be sure of winning enough games. Positives: several teams look ****. And our manager is trying hard to make silk purses out of sows ears...and he’s not hard on the eyes or ears. Conclusion: By no means certain we will be relegated, but prepare for worst. We are Saints fans whatever league we are in....though I hope the angels don’t tell Markus.
Doesn`t matter so much now, but I think our pen should`ve been retaken as Ward didn`t have a foot on the line when the ball was struck.
Having watched MOTD, I have discovered a defence worse than ours. West Ham defenders were like a line of mannequins, especially Johnson at right back? He was at fault for two, maybe three of BHA goals. Always someone worse off than yourself.
As has been said before there are lots of **** teams this year. The way we have played for the majority of our games and how bad we have been shouldve seen us cut adrift. The fact we aren’t and have a shot at survival just shows how bad the rest of the other teams have been
Thats what they call pitch tilt these days. Weighting the value of posession depending on where it is on the field. And you're bang on, not worth much on the Leicester half.
It is funny that so many of us have/had us to go down and then one win against Leicester and a sense of it's back on. From the certainty of the comments on here, you would have thought we were adrift by 6-9+ points. Tough games coming up but in relative terms, we tend to play better against the bigger teams.
Exactly. I've said all along we don't need to turn into a really good team to get out of this. Just need a manager who can organise the team well, can get the best out of the players and Selles looks like that man. Importantly, the goals we are conceding are decreasing. Only 1 goal conceded from 3 league games is encouraging. It is simply impossible to predict the 3 teams to go down right now it is that tight.
Think we’ll need 4 points from the next three games to remain amongst it, otherwise we’re still on catch up with games fading. 7 wins was the target in my mind after Everton. 5 to go from 13 is not impossible
I think the relative difficulty of the fixtures coming up compared to the previous 10 still gives cause for concern. We don't have a run of bottom half clubs until the last few games of the season. Our games against West Ham, Bouremouth and Palace are effectively all must wins if we want to stay up as we cannot rely on routinely beating teams better than us. Chelsea aside we are being pretty comprehensively beaten by anyone above the bottom 8 clubs this season.
Well if you look at the bookies odds they still have us and Bournemouth as the big favourites to go, then Everton. The next favourite is Leeds who are a lot longer odds than us so in their/the punters mind at least it is very likely that it is the current bottom 3 going down. They aren’t always right, and a lot can change week to week, but right now we are still very likely to be one of the bottom 3 and there is only 5 teams who realistically could go down
I wouldn't say that. United at home - 0-1, Arsenal - 1-1, Fulham, 2-1, and then the two wins over Chelsea. And we did beat City in the EFL Cup at home.
