Bennette down the middle against Jagielka would have been interesting to watch - give them something to worry about. Either coming short or spinning in behind.

Quality, early balls into the front players is something we need to get better at as well.

He would certainly press and work hard if he was asked to play there.

Twice he’s played Pritchard in the middle! Absolutely horrendous decision.

and too see him just standing there hand on forehead doing nothing pissed me off massively yesterday.

TBF I am not surprised. I think the vast majority of managers would have told their superiors to stick it and leave if they were left with literally no number 9 for half a season. It's unheard of and makes the job so much harder.

It's an accurate post to be fair. Mowbray's tone has significantly changed.

Hopefully he understands that Stewart getting injured at the end of the window was terrible luck and we tried hard to get Simms and Nemeth but neither panned out.

OP has history of making posts and then sitting back to see what happens. Will be interested to see if he posts again on this thread.

I agree it is a point to discuss perhaps I am being too sensitive about the tone of the post

This might be through desperation, but I was thinking would Ekwah work up top to help us out. Hold the ball up to bring others in to play, physical presence, win flick on's etc. It might just be crazy enough work.

there's isn't a "Debate" imo. Football teams need strikers in the team. I grew up watching "big number 9s" playing for Sunderland. We don't even have a number 9 in the squad now. Not having a recognised striker is imo catching up with us. opposition teams know we don't have a threat of a striker, so they know they won't have a battle with a striker and are able to concentrate on stopping our wing play. I'm not for one second saying we should've want out and blew x amount on just anyone, but there has to have been someone out there in the footballing world.

I'm only half joking. He'd at lest hold the ball up and win some headers.

This season promised so much but is heading south rapidly. I still back the club's vision re young players but they made a huge mistake in January by sticking with what we had

hey ho. Mid table mediocrity is rare for us, so maybe we should just enjoy it this season :emoticon-0140-rofl:

To you maybe. Other people are capable of realising that a combination of bad luck with injuries and transfers not working out at the last minute is just **** that happens sometimes.
