It'd probably be a large fine, one the players should be willing to donate their appearence fee towards.

Love this song (Covered by the Men They Couldn't Hang)
Back to the OP we should all wear a poppy with pride Personally mine will be white as I'm a pacifist) but if they did wear them without permission from the Fat **** Blatter would that give FIFA an excuse to lkick us out of tournaments which Blatter would love. He's just pissed of because we invented the game. Why not just go **** it we ain't going to play this weekend. It's only a friendly for ****sake

I think I'm with MrRAW on this. Don't get me wrong, I'll be wearing a poppy and will be at the local war memorial on Sunday morning (though not the church service, as I don't count myself Christian). But how would anyone here feel if we played Afghanistan or Pakistan one September, and their team walked onto the Wembley pitch wearing emblems commemorating the 'martyrdom of those heroes who flew planes into the World Trade Centre' on 9/11? Do you see what I mean? Once you open this door ...

There are no FIFA regulations governing the fans. We can deck the place out with poppy banners if we like.

All things considered, maybe we should let this be. Just let those three lions do the job for us.

Would be funny as **** if they did.

Who gives a **** anyhow? It's about time this country dropped the pc correct bollocks & made a stand.

Prior to WW1 we were the most powerful empire on the face of the Earth. After 1918 we were bled dry by the Yank twats & were never the same again.

In those days we would stick 2 fingers up to anyone who disagreed with us & say **** you ****, if you don't like us come & have a go.

These days we are weak as piss because of that corrupt EU which makes the Soviet Union look like a well run, fair organisation.

What gets me is the outright hypocracy of the polititions. We twat Lybia with air strikes as Gadaffi is a **** yet allow Syria to do business as normal. It's to do with oil & that's a certain fact.

We stood by when Yugoslavia errupted into civil war until we went in under the UN flag & I know for a fact that's true as I was ****ing well there!

We should be more like Israel & tell the world to get to **** if they don't like us.

This country has not had a decent PM since Churchill.

The MP's are the biggest bunch of spineless cowardly ****s I could ever imagine.

    THE RED POPPY
    A History

Synonymous with War Memorials are the red poppies worn on Remembrance Day, Nov.11th ( originally known as Armistice Day ). The origin of the poppy tradition rests with three people, Major John McCrae* a Medical Officer with the 1st.Canadian Contingent at the battle of the Ypres salient in May 1915. Miss Moira Michael, Secretary of the American YMCA and Madam Guerin, Secretary French YMCA.

They were appalled at the slaughter and the poppy is an inoffensive way to pay homage to all our warrior dead who fought for freedom. It cannot Cutey be compared to any ****ing Bin Laden or Blatter emblems..

I hope the PCcorrect Billionaires Boys Club rot in ****ing hell.

Could you convince an Al Kaida member who serves in, say, the Pakistan F.A. of that? Could you? Those guys who flew those planes on 9/11 were crazed animals to us. But the west doesn't govern global opinion. Elsewhere, those same guys were regarded as holy martyrs. They were striking a sacred blow against western oppression. In some people's eyes, they "fought for freedom" too. Do you see what I mean? - Once you open this rule up to opinion, then everyone can express their opinion ... and it might not be too tasteful to the west. We're opening up a bucketload of sh*t if we go down this road, man.

Leave it to the fans to express our national feelings - that's the best answer. Deck the friggin' place out with poppies.

A statement born of pure ignorance.
The vast majority of Afghan's and Pakistanis were as appalled as anyone in the West to 9/11.
This mass murder of civilians was carried out by INSURGENTS who make a home in said country's and survive by spreading evil, fear, hatred and cruelty to those who oppose them.

It has been confirmed we will wear black armbands during the game instead of the poppy.

    FA released the statement today.

Freely acknowledged, mate. I used it loosely as an example of differing opinions around the world that might be expressed on shirts once we open this door. I didn't wish offence to Afghans, Pakistanis or anyone else, and certainly wasn't speaking up for those opinions. But not all world opinions on "fighting for freedom" agree with ours, and this shirt issue isn't one I think we should pursue.

Perhaps the fans are the best ones to express our national feelings. We're free to do that in our own country - at least for now (I agree wholeheartedly with Billy Death, that the EU is a second Soviet Union, so how long that freedom continues is anyone's guess).
