**** happens How slow is Neill on the ball Midfield far too weak And of course lack of a striker League position still better than I expected Pity we.ve slipped away the last 3 games though
I was hoping to see 4-3-3 today. It’s the only way I can see us getting results. Ekwah & Ba are the other options in the midfield. Tony needs to wake up v v quickly
No defending the lads today or the gaffer. Very poor. However... I read a lot of posts now calling out the model we have of young players. Lots demanding experience be signed. Speakman back on the naughty step. To throw it all in when we hit our first bad run would be pretty poor imo. We have played some unbelievable football this season. Absolute joy to watch at times. Miles ahead of where I suspect Speakman and KLD thought we might be. Certainly we have played better football than I thought we would this year. Some of the young lads have developed really quickly at this level as well. We are in a tough run. We look tired and short on confidence. I have seen experienced sides look that way before. Lets not throw the baby out with bath water here. I want the club to keep trusting in youth. I want the club to keep valuing technical players over athletes. I want to keep enjoying watching young players develop. It is going to require patience from us fans though, we need to stick with and take the rough with the smooth. So far this season the good far outweighs the bad and I want the progression to be maintained. Fortune favours the brave. Haway the lads.
Spot on mate, I tried not to reply as soon as the two boring buggers left their their own thread to get on my wick again here
Aye he actually went the other way bizarrely and fielded the weakest CM he could have come up with. Not that I don't rate the players but it's not Pritchard's position and Neil will have off days while he's developing. Need another body in there to strengthen up and try to grind out some results.
Dreadful today no excuses. We lacked height & strength and got bullied all over the pitch. Unfortunately we’ve hit bad form at the wrong time, we all know why so pointless keep bleating on about it. Our target was to stop up and we’ve done that easily, still feels like an opportunity missed but these players will be better for it next season. Won’t enjoy my beer as much tonight but long term we will be fine. Try and enjoy your Saturday night lads & lasses
Agree with sticking with the kids we have some fabulous talent. The problem im seeing last few games is not the individuals it’s the shape of the team or today complete lack of it. Neil on his own in midfield today was just plain daft. Alex Neil did his homework and just over ran us with a frankly workmanlike team. We need a platform to play off and we need to be stronger when the opposition turn over our attacks I think we have the players and would go with a stronger three in the middle maybe give Ba and Ekwah a run If we keep conceding when we lose possession then players are going to lose confidence and stop trying things. Time to shore up a bit but like you say without throwing the baby out with the bath water
Absolutely. Anyone who's watched Stoke knew we'd need a strong midfield, and whilst Pritchard is decent on his day and in his position, a strong breeze could blow him over.
I feel abit for Gelhardt, he's came in at a time where we're seemingly on the turn for the wrong reasons. The lad has played a handful of games with a goal to his name, however, and this isn't a dig, but I'm failing to see what all the hype is about and why (reportedly) we beat off so many clubs to sign him. Begs the question, did he want to go to Wigan? Anyway, he's here till May, and I hope that in that time he picks up form, but we shall see.
I said before kickoff that today was perfect for 09 to start. Lovely lad but an absolute knacker to play against. We have no bite in our time. Lovely footballers, but no nasty bastards. We seem a soft touch.
We were playing one central midfielder with 2 apparently free role attacking players in Roberts and Prichard, we had no chance today. As soon as I saw the team I thought we would be overrun in Midfield.
I have no doubt he would be class as a number 10, playing off a big striker. He's a Broadhead type player and certainly not a forward who can lead the line. Just our luck that Everton kept Simms and Stewart is ****ed.
Mowbray has to take the blame for that. Selecting Neil and Pritchard in a 2 against them was criminal.
Wouldn't disagree. The manager has to take a large portion of the blame. The team selection and the substitutions were a joke. He's starting to moan after every game now about lack of options up front which isn't helping anyone
