Yet another frustrating afternoon. You can see why Preston concede so few goals with their defensive formation.
Cheezuz Kryste. There is not enough alcohol to numb the pain of that, that, that whatever that was. Three teams on view: one low in confidence; one the worst team at the Vic this season; and the, god only knows how, worst team in the match with the whistle and flags... absolute pony.
It is very difficult to work out why we are misfiring. Some of it is basic football that we don't get right. As an example, at one point a cross came in from the wing, and the keeper had an easy job to come off his line to catch it. As Tommy Mooney said, both attackers in the goal area were on the far post, but you should have one on the near post and only one on the far post. There were opportunities to attack the Preston defence down the wings, but far too often the player with the ball tried to cut inside where the mass ranks of defenders were camped instead of trying to get to the goal line. The other thing I don't get is why we try to do the difficult pass, when a much simpler one is more likely to be successful. Still scratching my head about such a poor display.
Bilic questioning his future ? https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/23363599.watford-boss-bilic-stresses-focussed-job/
Fez was that the worst refereeing we have seen for many years We could/should have had two penalties and some of the free kick decisions were beyond belief, the worst was when a defender tried to take out Asprilla missed and the lineman signalled for a red kick to Preston Every time a Watford player ended up in a heap the ref waved play on, every time a Preston player lost the ball he lay down and the ref stopped the game (slight exaggeration I know but that was how it looked to every home supporter) We are not playing as a team any more, the last time was at home to Luton, how ironic Asprilla and Gaspa looked the best players when they came on at half time, Louza and Chowdhary were losing or wasting possession and one of them should have been replaced by Kone Rant over, same as our season, the club needs to think now about building a TEAM for next season
Unfortunately we seem to have a certain reputation which means we don’t get free kicks or penalties. Weren’t very good but still would have won that they been given .
I don't know about that - but with these words he seems to be pointing the finger of blame at himself: “We are a good group of people, and they are listening to the plan and sticking to the plan. They want to do it. There is discipline on the pitch and off the pitch, there are no issues at all. No small issues even. Nothing like that." Perhaps he wants out and is inviting the sack?
I'm not sure the club knows how to "build" a team or is financially or otherwise capable of building a team. They seem to put up a tent each year which most years does not last a season. All of seventeen or eighteen managers, bar a few, cannot be wrong. This failure rate of managers is becoming statistically more and more unlikely. The club needs to look at themselves and the culture they have created.

The question has been asked elsewhere; when you looked at the team sheet, and the subs bench, before the game, did you think this was the best team we could put out, or not? It seems fair to ask because on paper it looked fine.
