I’d say they played like City have done recently , passed it around competently forever allowing a team like us with a very good shape and solid defence to get into position . Like us if they’d attacked quicker they might have got the result , they got what they deserved we got what we deserved - and Darlow helped LOL
Hull City boss Liam Rosenior told BBC Radio Humberside: "We played against the second best side in the league. That's why I give the players so much credit. "Karl Darlow made some great saves but he's capable of that - and we were due one like that. We've been in games before when teams haven't previously had a shot and end up scoring from the one shot they have. "I just got the feeling that Oscar Estupinan's energy levels were a bit low last week so I decided to make that change and Benji's goal was a cracker. Left footer in the far stanch. He's done it in training so for him to do it on such a big night I was delighted for him." West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan told BBC Radio WM: "I think the opponent's keeper was maybe one of the best players on the opponent's team. "It means you made him work, but I think what happened in the boxes made the difference in the game. "At the time of the first goal, the team was playing excellent and dominating the game, but in these moments the concentration in defending is necessary too."
Yeah wasn't necessarily disputing it but just trying to understand the context. I don't know how you can go past either Sheff U or Boro for second best, but I'm sure he's just trying to pump up the team with a bit of hyperbole.
I don’t usually do this, but don’t give up your day job Big Vern, cos you’ve made yoursen look stupid
By no metric are they the 2nd best team. However it makes a nice sound bite when you've just beat them. Luckily for us we've got the actual best team in the division on Wednesday.
We defended well for the most part but they were getting in down our left all night with ease. Not playing Greaves turned out to be a mistake that wasn't punished I thought they had 3 really good chances, the Dike one in the 2nd half, Wallace had one where Darlow saved and Reach had one where he completely mishit it. I found it intriguing that a few of their fans are calling for Corberan out. I think Sky pulled up the stats that they'd lost their last 5 away games and with that squad, injury crisis my arse, that shouldn't be happening
Tis the morning after the night before, have now thawed out, it was bloody freezing. and what a night, I was so excited I could have crushed a grape. What’s not to like, 3 points, clean sheet, 2 goals. It wasn’t pretty for the first 30 mins, we gave them too much respect, stood off them, no press, they were first to all 2nd balls, just camped in our own half and let them come onto us at ease, and to be honest, had it not been for their **** finishing and Darlow having a heroic performance we could easily have been a few goals down. But, credit to Rosie he made changes to sort it. Fantastic goal from Tetteh, out of nowhere really, he also had a similar cracking shot later in 2nd half, which must have stung the fingers of their keeper. MOM has to be Darlow, what a home debut performance. To be fair, I am a lover of Ingram not a knocker, but Darlow looks so much more agile? Defence worked their socks off, as did Slater and Doc, a well earned win for whole team performance. Ps Happy Birthday SydneyTiger14. Edit, lover of Ingram, in footy sense obvs!!
