Blimey guys- it’s almost time! That off season was fast, and it had plenty going on with the Team principle merry go round. Let’s start to see just what the initial picture really is- who’s been having our pants down and who can back up the strong form.
Very odd first session there. Ferrari and Merc doing their own thing a little bit by looks of it. Aston not far out of Red Bull range which seems similar to testing. Alpine not making the step they promised and McLaren not the disaster they looked. Of course, the only FP that matters is this afternoons running in the actual quali and race conditions. Roll it on!
Ferrari's test rear wing looked mega wobbly, I can't believe that that made it to production. If I was running the team I would be very worried how that was ever passed off to go into production. What a waste of money! I have a worrying feeling Red Bull have a lot more speed in their car!
Stroll back on form and nearly causing a big accident! Oscar and Uki having a drag race down straight (McL losing) and out of the its rolls Stroll at a snails pace right into the braking area! Luckily both avoided him!
got a hard on for green cars with utter Spanish **** driving it all of a sudden please please please stick it to verstappe
Looking at the onboard it looks like Lance does have a problem with his left wrist as well as the op on his right! He has to take his left hand off the wheel in turn 1 as he doesn't seem to be able to rotate his wrist enough to get the lock he needs! Not seen an onboard of a tight left hander to see how his right hand is working. Looks safe enough but not sure how he is going to fair during a whole race!
If that AM is as fast as it appears, well, I guess Lawrence Stroll didn't become a billionaire by not knowing which people to put where.
Happy, to see McLaren not as bad as feared, at least in Norris’ hands, to see Alonso back at the front and that Merc aren’t back. Disappointed that Ferrari don’t seem to be in the mix from the off, especially as that could mean no season long challenger to RedBull, allowing them to build an early unassailable lead. Agree that it seems foolish to have Lance race, but having had both sessions, I’d be surprised if he’s not still in the car tomorrow.
Would have bet on pole being 1:30.0 or so before today. The give away for me is haas being right beside ferrari. That perez 1:30:3 now looks to me like we should be thinking cars will be a full second faster than last years pole. 1:29.5
Yep, that’s the only thing I’m left puzzled by- Haas and Alpha Tauri showing up so well and the gaps of c.1 second between 1st and about 12th. Whilst I really hope the field have closed up, I find it tricky to believe. Let’s see tomorrow but the closer it is and the more teams taking a step forward, the better.
Alonso looking good, I so hope someone can give Max a real race. Alonso and Max battling in competitive cars would be great to see! I know it's still early but I can hope!!
A properly interesting quali coming up. Nice to see RBR not having it all their own way. Yet, anyway.
