Can’t say what he’s much of wolves but haven’t noticed anything about nunes. Doesn’t seem to have stood out there and only been there 6 months.
I'm not sure on Mount. He's a hard worker so I think he would do well with Klopp who loves that in a player. Other than Bellingham we always seem to be able to point to a foreign player we"d rather have, Thuram, Kone etc.
I really like what I've seen of him, but can't believe we would pay his wage demands when we've resisted being top spenders in the past.
we are losing phillips, milner and ox who are **** but make the quota. people need to be aware of this so 2+2 on mount might even add up for once.
Shame about Bobby but prob right time. We’ve reinvebted in our front line with diaz gakpo Nunez and Jota being the next generation. Unfortunately Bobby won’t be first choice and at his age prob has 1 last contract in Europe as a first choice forward. Was going to say been the unsung hero but not sure that’s quite true. I think all lfc fans loved him and fully appreciated him, but was always overshadowed by mane and Salah who scored the goals. But I imagine both will contribute a huge part of their success to him. Was a vital cog in the machine and his goal record isn’t too bad for a guy that brought so much more. Hope he gets a decent club of his choice and can perform well.
I think the opposite. I think the 'sentimentality' among the players is what caused such a strong bond that got us winning games in the first place and many of them we had no right winning. They are as cohesive a unit as I've seen in football. I hope morale won't suffer over this. Also, other than Milner and Henderson getting renewals when arguably they shouldn't, both bit part players anyway, who else have we hung on to that we had good offers for and didn't let go?
who else have we hung on to that we had good offers for and didn't let go? I never said we'd had offers for!
You're right that the bond really helped us achieve great things ... but at the same time, we have to be better at knowing when to let go. Footballing ability has now gone down because players are getting older. And morale is already down because we're simply not good enough on the pitch and not winning games. You can argue that Can, Gini, Bobby, Lallana all left on frees when all could have fetched some good money. You can also argue that held onto Origi and Mane for too long as well.Nat Phillips, Ox and Keita also spring to mind. The key is not to get rid when the players are completely useless. It's getting rid of them at the right time before their decline sets in. It's tough because at the time, you think the players can keep performing and you dont expect the decline to happen ...
It's not so much that we needed to offload Mo - he's still got plenty to offer, just that we shouldn't have been giving him that amount of money.
That's the point. You can't just say to players off you go when they are under contract and have had no outside offers.
I know what you're saying, it's just that some players should have gone because they're no longer of use to us, he isn't in that category. I was always against paying him way above anyone else, for the obvious reasons, but it's clear now that the club knew Mané was off and didn't want to lose both at once.
