The current top 4 PL teams could all be owned by Middle East. Funny how we are the only ones getting the bad rep.
The media will all of a sudden start arguing the same points newcastle fans did and still are. The very 1st thing I noticed was the Media pushing out the positives and how these guys are easily separated from the owners of psg. Everything is the compete reverse reaction. Miguel delaney I have his tweets on screenshots so I'm awaiting his mental gymnastics. Have no fear gentlemen I can excel now
That’s the ESL ****ed then. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64536218 GREAT NEWS! Now we can dominate world football.
Will be interesting to see how this new independent regulator affects the game. And how many of the senior 'independent' appointments are fans of the 'big six'. ESL might still take place, but just without any English teams. The likes of Barca, Real Madrid, PSG, Juventus will want to preserve their status somehow. So can still see them pushing for something, regardless of English teams.
I know mate . I was hoping the proposal would end this FFP nonsense... it's nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing. Unfair play is the correct term
I'm not sure on this Gov thing. It looks like a vote winning exercise, all vague bluff and bluster. Look at each point: 1. Stop English Clubs joining CLOSED SHOP European competition. Last I read, the ESL had already got over this by claiming to not be 'closed shop'. My worry is the Gov are so incompetent they could be easily led down the "look at all the extra money/tax you can make". Worrying. 2 & 3. Financial failings/O&D tests. All this says to me is that the Gov will look to football as a pawn in international relations. Qatar owning Man U is now a foregone conclusion. In terms of preventing the collapse of clubs - the current list is Aldershot, Maidstone, Macclesfield, Chester, Rushden & Diamonds & Bury. Of this six, only Bury remain dormant. So we need a Government intervention? Ok, then..... 4. Fan power; again, about votes - when was the last change a club implemented that was hated by the fans? When did someone have a huge kit change, name change, and so on? Again it's just pointless noise - even the stupidest American owner understands the value of history. 5. Ensuring fair distribution of money filters down. Ok, so what's "fair"? Is it currently "unfair"? How can they enforce that? Does any fan have the faintest idea what these numbers currently are and, again, whether they're fair or not? The PL will say it is, the EFL will say it isn't. None of it tackles any of the issues. Here's my alternative list of issues that directly harm football: 1. The loan system and "farming" young players by an elite group of clubs. 2. Salaries and agent fees being out of control. 3. Owners not being able to 'invest' whatever they want (just tax it, but allow it, as long as it's not "loaned" or then "owed" by the club, who ****ing cares?) 4. Addressing the ridiculous bias that favours big clubs; instead of FFP being all about %ages, there should be caps on squad sizes at every level, caps on total salary spend regardless of income and more money should be distributed to the community, hit ticket prices, be spent on local projects and stadium innovation/renovation, etc. Could even have an account - escrow, maybe? - that's profitability after money filtering and spend that can be used on player purchases. 5. Gambling. ****ing get some control over it, people are ruining and even losing lives.
Holy feck, nearly 3 years of this thread. That day in October 2021 was a helluva party on this thread.
I think I spent 18 months refreshing twitter ... it's been emotional and on Sunday the day we've all always wanted is here .
I love it that the headline is that the Premier League MUST re-examine the takeover, then when you go to the article you see this: 'The Premier League "needs to re-examine the assurances" it was given about potential Saudi state control of Newcastle United, says human rights group Amnesty International.' Ie it's just Amnesty International being whiney ****s again.
