You are no where near Colo, Cabaye or Tiote. Honestly if we get Pieters in Jan let him go for 3million

Would go no further than £20,000 a week like. He isn't worth anymore than that and I'd like him to stay, but if he refuses to sign then yeah £3m would do. Santon first choice right back, then we would have Raylor who can play there with Tavernier closer to the first team

I doubt he is after the sort of money Colo is on, probably more the sort of money Stevey Taylor is on.

Stevie is on about the same as Colo lol. Would say he should be on the same as Raylor, Willo, Shola type of players

I doubt that. Colo is on between £60,000 and £80,000 a week. Stevey will be on about £40,000 whilst Danny is probably on between £10,000 and £15,000 and wants to earn a 'premiership footballer' wage.

From what I remember reading on the Deportivo website when we signed Colo, they said he signed for £50,000 a week so I think this £80,000 is a myth because Ashley would have flogged him a long time ago imo.

I think Danny's ability aswell is only really worth £10,000-£15,000 a week.

Yeah I'd stick at £20k. He isn't going to get anymore than that anywhere else. He isn't worth it

He should be in the same pay bracket as Guthrie & Raylor, whatever that is.

I have commented on this article (ab1984). Anyway,he doesn't deserve parity with Saylor etc, get rid and let Santon step straight in if Simmo is going to dig his heels in!!

If he gets more then 20k a week, I demand parity, as I do feck all to help Newcastle out on a matchday except sit on my arse, display no technical footballing ability and scream...

He needs to become a better footballer if he wants more money, and if Pardew is faced with him and this question, I hope he tells him the same thing!

Lots of Simpson hate in this thread! Also lots of speculation going on as well..... He's the starting right back in the best defence in the Premiership this season and has been a constant improver over the last 2-3 years in my opinion. If he feels he's getting underpaid then what's wrong with trying to negotiate a better deal? Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's worth Colo/Saylor money but I think it's a bit harsh everyone say get rid of him just for trying to negotiate himself a better contract.

I like Simpson and I've been impressed with him this season as much as Raylor because I was expecting both of them to be by far the weakest links in our defence and they have certainly proved my fears wrong so far.

He still has 18 months to go so this is more than likely the first round in thrashing out a contract. He'll ask for parity (as many others would do) with the other players of his age and calibre, the club will most likely offer slightly less then he wants but an improvement against his existing contract.

I'm still in the belief that Danny will sign an improved 5 year contract.

If we carry on flying high and challenging for Europe then it'll show what's important to him. He either shuts up and has a chance to play in Europe (every players dream apparently) or he follows the pay cheque and jons QPR (cough Barton) and battle for 14th.

He's showing a lot of improvment (even closing people down this season!) so I would love him to stay.

He's still doing that, "I'm going to wait back here, ten yards from the winger and in my own box... You cross whenever you like mate" crap. It's awful to watch when the rest of the defence is working hard.

He has improved a bit in the last couple of games, but I'd still pinpoint him as the weakness at the moment if I were Mancini, and if Pardew I'd be working on him night and day.

Looking at the article title I assumed it was a clever route into a thread about Simpson, Guthrie and Gosling. Too many Dans for my liking, get shot of him...
