The 4-4-2 didn’t work that well the other day but we’ve got to find a way of threatening teams in behind, more.
I was very underwhelmed by Amad at the start. I thought he looked like a talent but who would strugglenm in this league. I even suggested the club might end his loan in Jan. How wrong can you be! Gelhardt is with us for the next 12 games and I think Mowbray and the coaches will find a way to get him on song, like they did with Amad. I think we overlook sometimes how much direct impact a good coach can have on a players contribution. LJ tweaked one thing for Wyke and he went on a great run. Sure Gelhardt has it in him and I am sure Mowbray does too.
Yep lets hope so. Amad great goal last game but not great performance overall, a rest might do him good. Gelhardt and how he gels with the team, we/he should be getting better now after 6 games. Clarke has to plat, he scores the odd goal. I like Pritchard, but he does not score!
Leeds would sell him if they didn't think he had it in him ... ... even if it's only in the Championship which is where they may soon be.
I remember the last striker we had who was "the next Thierry Henry" so I'll take that evaluation with a huge pinch of salt.
In fairness to Kyle, he did far more for us than the player I had in mind. Quite amazing the teams he managed to play for without achieving anything mind: Sunderland Man Utd West Ham Nice Bordeaux David Bellion!
Pretty much agree. Although plenty of my favourite cult players were going to be the next Maradona at some point: Gallardo Ortega Aimar Riquelme Aguero Dybala Kvaratshkeilia
If he'd punched the ball into the German net, he'd be a national hero in England. And I blame Shilton anyway, fooled by someone he didn't even need to outjump. I remember Vic Halom, at Burnden Park, diving full length to punch the ball into the net, just for a laugh. It was right in front of the Sunderland supporters and we were all pretending to go wild ... ... Vic came over, did a pantomime bow and turned round to see the ref pointing to the centre spot. The Bolton players were furious
The lad can't lead the line, he knows it and so does everyone else but injuries and bad transfer options have meant he has to. Honestly I don't see us scoring many goals at all for the rest of the season.
I have been actually disappointed in Gelhardt. Thought he would show better movement and link up play.
I'm feeling **** after that awful performance but I'd be amazed if we get anything from our next 4 games.
We're not playing to his strengths, but in no way should he be our only option up front. He should be playing alongside a no.9, or being brought off the bench to give us legs in the last 20. I feel sorry for him
yeh, i would agree with that, he is not a 'target man' for an out ball but he does look to make runs, unforunately it is very hard to see how that would work as no one passes into him...we were told he is a good, hard worker on the pitch but right now he is working and getting no rewards for it.
