One thing I noticed about Alcaraz, is that he doesn't come for the ball an awful lot. That was the Gaston-problem imo. It's something I think a lot of foreign players struggle to adapt to when coming to English football. You need to work harder to get time and space on the ball.
With an attacking line up of Mara, Armstrong, Orsic and Djenepo? Seriously? When Djenepo stands out it shows how bad the others were
As I said, I don’t think it’s that bad, on paper, against a league 2 side. Problem is they’re all ****ing ****e except moussa. Nowhere near good enough for PL.
Well played Grimsby The only positive to take from tonight was how much the Grimsby fans were enjoying themselves and what great support they brought down. Excellent for a team 16th in league 2. Shows there is fun outside the premier league.
Genuinely hope it’s the worst attendance at st Mary’s for a league game ever. Send the club a message
If it is at the start then what's the point in going? At least wait to see if Selles gets a reaction.
It's actually massive naivety by the board. Who the hell has ever appointed a permanent manager (albeit until the end of the season) after a single win? It is common incentivisational (probably not a word) common sense to say: 'Go on, show me you can do that again a few more times, and we'll reward you with what you want' or 'Get us out of the relegation zone in the next handful of games and you can have the job until the end of the season', or even, say, 'Show us you can raise the players against Grimsby and it's yours!'. That is just so basic. I couldn't believe it when they gave him the contract. I'm pretty sure no one ever has awarded a contract to a caretaker after a single win. At this rate, we need our tough run of fixtures to come asap, as we can only beat the likes of Man City and Chelsea, it seems.
Yeah. First half our plan was to play the ball through the channels and it looked as if it might payoff, except for our inability to stay onside. That all stopped second half though.
Why on Earth would anyone think he would? This game tonight was supposed to be the reaction. The Leeds game was supposed to be a continuation of a positive start. It’s all just **** and anyone that thinks these players are suddenly gonna start reacting to this manager is ****ing dreaming.
This is the team I would pick for Saturday: Alex (he doesn't get any blame for tonight) KWP ABK Salisu Perraud JWP Lavia Stu Theo Paul Sulemana
Grimsby bought the inflatable fish, and we supplied the gutless fish. Just get ****ing relegated so this season can end now. SR have spunked millions on kids who would run away from a 10 year old if they wanted to steal his car. Then add that into the already in place gutless fish who have been here robbing a living, then this is what you end up with. Of course the players wanted Selles in charge, you imagine this lot with a Dyche or even a Allardice, they’d all go home crying to their mummy’s every day. I do not give one **** about losing any player from this squad when this embarrassment of a season is done, not one.
The Grimsby fans will wake up tomorrow and think “I know we beat a premier league team but they were ****e weren’t they”.
You look at our squad, as a manager of another team, and who on Earth is actually worth their reported transfer fee? JWP at 50m, maybe, if you've got the money for it. Lavia at 35-40m, yeah, no-brainer. KWP, 25-30m no-brainer. The rest though? It's a hard pass surely.
