I think I'm in the minority of 1 but I prefer the away fans where they are now on the proviso they put some sort of netting up to stop objects being thrown. The away fans when in the south stand were more effective in backing their team. As for the atmosphere like somebody mentioned...if the team are playing well the atmosphere should take care of itself.
I sit in the NEC and selfishly I'm buzzing because it was probably where they'd have ended up. Sat in the same seat since 2004 as have many round us and the crack is really good. It'd have massively changed our matchday experience to have to move.
I was a BCB season ticket holder when we were in the top half for many years. I remained a BCB season ticket holder for the first year in the lower bowl. I will not return to the North Stand while they are above us.
It was me that mentioned it mate, I sit in the east stand just a bit closer to the north end than the south. The noise generated from even just a small number of away fans seems to be increased massively by where they are. It’s like a huge loud speaker at times. Does anyone know if it’s true about premier league clubs requiring away fans to be in the lower bowl? It was mentioned a while ago in a different thread (mags are the exception for security reason supposedly). If that’s true we will either need to move them eventually or apply for special permission…which considering the history of flares etc may not be easy.
It's just not acceptable for away fans to be able to chuck things down on home fans below, end of. If that is in any way a risk,it needs to be changed. I'm very sceptical of the measures the club have outlined making any significant difference....one missile hurting someone below is one too many. I'm in the south end of the East stand and I wouldn't ever go to the North lower whilst this situation exists.
The mags have away fans up in the Gods, think the away section at Old Trafford is in the upper bowl too. Not sure how the PL could enforce that given the multitude of different stadium designs and external infrastructures
Man U’s away section is definitely lower bowl but in cup games they give a bigger allocation that includes the top tier…
I’m row 9 in the North Stand. Right behind the goal. I’m not keen on the view tbh but my son enjoys sitting there. Not sure what to do next season…
Mentioned otr that we threw a flare down which burnt the arm of a young Newcastle fan. Every club has a minority of idiots, thought our club were going to do something to prevent the possibility of injury.
Whoever’s name is on the heath and safety certificate wants his head looking at. It’s his head that’s on the block know matter wether it’s someone above or below him which has told him different, as he will find out sooner or later.
These days, anybody must be mad to put their signature on a health and safety document if the company hasn’t gave you total control over funds to keep things right.
Maybe not. But If they don't put nets up for known offenders, that charge will stick, and deserve to. Rome wasn't built in a day and all that, but some money should be spent here. I would say it's a very high priority, along with the dead pitch.
Maybe prevention (removing items before people enter the stadium) is better than cure (putting up an ugly net that will catch some of what is thrown) Reduced allocations for clubs with repeat offenders. Lifetime bans for people caught on CCTV
