Everyone quotes 50 but its not 21/22 Reading stayed up on 41 (would have been relegated if not for point deductions) 20/21 Derby stayed up on 44 19/20 Barnsley on 49 18/19 Millwall on 44 17/18 Bolton on 43
To add a current metric of points per game has 46 points as staying up. We will ****house some results most likely against a "better" team even if the run in is quite tricky
It could also have easily been 1-1 if Benji had put it an inch inside. I respect Rosenior for highlighting the performance not the decision or rub of the green. Based on performance we were well beaten- but we came out of the game again with a solid enough rearguard. Just need to solve the conundrum of having flair players not fit most of the time. 3 games then injury for most of them or are constantly coming back. Cant judge them yet ability wise cos none of them have been consistent 90 min players in a certain position for long enough. Some have shown promise but there may well be some harsh decisions to be made on 20k + pw players just can't cope with the physical aspect of this league.
We got relegated under mcunt bottom, but 8 seasons out of 10 that points total would have kept you up. Just Enob and mcunt thought the job was dobe by January and we got what our ambition deserved that year.
Some of the injuries have been caused by bad management and poor pre-seasons though. Tetteh was thrown in almost instantly as a starter despite him only have 1 week's pre season. That's a recipe for disaster as is Rosey starting Allahyar twice in 3 days when he's just getting back. Allahyar was only meant to be out for 4 weeks, but he's been out for 8 weeks so far
Indeed. It's not even an ability issue for most cos they haven't had the pitch time to show it. There really are going to have to be decisions made in terms of injury record in the summer. Given our higher earners havent been fit enough to play the majoriry of the season.
They scanned it within a week and updated that, believe Pelkas had a scan and he's probably training for a bench spot by Thursday or Friday.
Depends if you call a tweak serious 're injury' or not, but yeah - the weeks unavailable all add up to not a lot of return for quite a lot of money.
To be fair, that wasn't really through choice, it was just that we had so many other injuries by then that we couldn't really leave him out. That was around the time that Cannon and Covil were also getting a lot of minutes.
Poor coaching is too blame for a lot of injuries, over training is one, some players are fitness freaks and could train all day, some once a day is too much, aggressive players like Connolly get injured more often also, and the worst one is rushing players back, which has happened at City for a couple of years, mainly because of results.
-> "Just need to solve the conundrum of having flair players not fit most of the time." Nope, 'just' need to solve the conundrum of us now being ****e in our attacking play (and that's not just an issue with our forwards).
I actually thought Sinik looked good whenever he came on, and I got the feeling he went back because he was finding it difficult to settle here initially. Maybe, if that was the case, a bit of time back home will give him time to adjust to things. On Ebiowei, I have watched enough and played enough football over the years to know players need game time to really get to their full potential. Clearly, Liam knows what Malcolm is capable of, and it's always a difficult one for coaches to pitch it right when to introduce them and for how long. I just feel, with his injury at the start, then needing time now to get up to speed, is there enough time to really see us getting the full benefit of him?
