Just read last nights content. Ubedizzy makes reasonable and factual points, yet Reams runs round like a petulant child who cannot understand that those providing “his” information are likely to have an agenda and require someone who’s not very bright to be the mouthpiece My favourite bit is when, obviously rattled, he brings up his love for Wrexham and Dagenham and in comparison, Charlton means little to him. I can’t think, for the life of me, why people won’t take him seriously
As the creator and administrator he has the right to use that forum any way he chooses - including as a platform to continually attack Charlton Athletic fans and the forum that represents more of them than any other, by a factor of ten at least. In my view it's good to have a choice of fans' forums within the support base of any Club. Variety is the spice of life they say, and the different styles on individual forums can appeal to fans with differing preferences. But in the end forums made up of members who support the same football Club should be able to co-exist relatively peacefully. What unites their membership should be more meaningful than what divides them. However, despite the decent mix of regular contributors to that community of Charlton fans on ITTV, the forum is primarily driven as a means of dividing CAFC supporters, seemingly down to an unending grudge against a few individuals among those who fought for Charlton Athletic when it faced its deepest ever crisis three decades ago. I don't know the details of that rift and I don't want to. All I have found is that it's impossible to remain a member of that forum unless you're willing to accept that it's fundamentally a machine for putting the majority of Charlton fans down. A situation perpetuated by a small group of people who have their own axes to grind against the Charlton Life forum. Despite the honest intent and good faith of many members on ITTV it is essentially a realm of fear which they are willing to tolerate. When harm is wished on people involved with the Club who have angered its administrator and threats are made against them, this too must be tolerated. Challenge it, and the attack dogs will be loosed upon you. Remaining silent out of embarrassment and just hoping it will be deleted later, or just treating it like a joke, are the easiest options for the big majority of members who are uncomfortable with such unpleasantness. They turn a blind eye because they enjoy community spirit of other moderate members and the non-political footballing banter on that forum, and don't want to lose that by being singled out for abuse. Fans who won't toe that line are hounded out, one way or another. The real enemies of our Club are the crooks, spivs and con-men who use their influence to try to abuse our beloved old Club for their own gain and damn the feelings of fans who've supported CAFC all their lives, like their parents and grandparents before them. Crooks and con-men who are perfectly willing to set fans against each by feeding misinformation through forums, to muddy the waters and conceal their true agenda. When our fans are already being divided by internal sniping and unending hate-mongering, those responsible just make the job of those crooks and con-men easier.
Ivor is getting in a right fluster posters are ripping him apart and he's done the usual, threats, cursing and swearing, then banning people. The welshman does not like it up him. He's pleased the team he supports won though.
Funnily enough, I got a text message yesterday from my Charlton contact telling me to be careful what I say in the forums as CAFC are monitoring some and taking legal advice over libellous remarks about TS. The owner of the CharltonNoLife forum was warned a month ago, and moved some of the messages that could attract libelous posts to a members only page??
I wouldn't think that would cut much legal ice on a forum with what, 10,000 members? Or on ITTV either; membership roughly equal to home attendances these days. We might be OK here, since the Not606 Charlton crew could fit into a VW camper But then we're not prone to making stuff up anyway - quality over quantity
I'm a very quiet member there. The mods recently closed the takeover thread for a little while to "clean it up", whatever that means.
