We had this with McC didnt we.... 'he worked with him before'.... so chuffing what..... square pegs round holes.... the manager shouldn't need to be hearing a question answered 'was working with LR a reason for coming here.?'... whats the greater pull the manager or Acun and the project...
That's no excuse. We need someone to play now and always did. He was meant to sign in early Jan, but now it's the end of Feb and he's still not up to speed. I think realistically, he's going to need another month to get there. It's not good enough or acceptable. The moment he got injured, we should've moved on. And for the record, I'm writing him off over all 4 of his performances for us which have all been poor. I don't think there's much chance of him making any sort of impact between now and the end of the year. If we had him on a long-term deal, it's completely different. But we don't All the things Liam has been saying like you have to earn your place etc don't seem to apply to Malcolm. He came in, made a few poor sub appearances and then was handed a start and was poor again. It was mentioned by a few on here that he hadn't earnt the start and I thought that was fair. I just think it sets a dangerous precedent when a player is getting an easy ride. Look at his reluctance to start Tufan and how long that took despite him impacting games from the bench.
Cheers. I’d missed that. If we intend keeping him another year then I can understand playing him, if not we shouldn’t
It depends on how brutal he is in the summer. He could release Coyle and Elder, but it's that balance as it means we could be in for a really busy summer again. We need a busy summer, but the question is how busy. There's a long list of players that are potentials to leave but finding clubs for some won't be easy
I know All I’m saying is we shouldn’t play players we know won’t be with us If they might be then fair enough
I think Liam has to be careful though, he won't want the season petering out after such promise. I don't think he's got the options to leave players out who might not be here, I think he needs to get the results with what he has available. He keeps talking about robustness and it doesn't feel like a coincidence that it is a lot of the foreign players we signed who have struggled more than others.
I always wonder why folk are so quick to write players off. We've seen plenty come good after an inauspicious start or once they've moved on having been initially written off by city fans. Oh well, if people want to risk looking silly down the line than who am I to stop them.
As @Amin Yapusi has been saying about consistently playing players out of position. It’s **** to watch Slater try to be a creative outlet when his best attribute is running about and looking busy. Ros reckons he can play premier league though
These poor appearances do align with arguably our 3 worst performances under Rosenior though. Preston we were good but outside of that Norwich, Stoke and Brizzle have all been terrible from pretty much everyone outside the defence.
Surely that sets the bar lower though, we've been crying out for anything. I'm sure these performances are cementing who's in his plans next season. We really have, which is why I felt taking Tufan off at HT was odd. He can keep the ball well and the obvious move would have been to switch him centrally and maybe move Doch into his position. I don't think it's a coincidence that Doch was so poor in the 2nd half when we took off the only technical midfielder we had. I think it's pretty clear that Rosey doesn't trust Tufan to play centrally, so I expect him to be moved on in the summer.
Didn't realise quite how tough our run home is.. are we sure we're safe? Boro, Burnley, Watford, WBA, Cov, Sunderland, Millwall and Luton all very much up against it to get a result. Rotherham, Swansea, Reading we really need to win all 3. Blackburn 50/50 but not an easy game. Need probably 3 wins to definitely be safe.
We'll be fine, we've dropped off it a bit but we're still tough to score against. With Allahyar, Seri and Connolly all back within a month plus Adama up to speed and Pelkas back, we should have more than enough to get the few wins we need. I really believe we're a completely different side with Allahyar, Seri and Connolly available
I wouldn't be so blase if we're relying on players getting back to fitness. We've been saying all season "When player X is fit..". We need the wins banked.
Just checked we've won 11 games this season, 8 of which are below us in the table at present. 3 that are higher all came under Shota
I think with the current bunch we'll get the 6/8 points we need. I'm pretty relaxed about it because we aren't leaking goals any more. I know we were beaten yesterday, but apart from the first 10 minutes, Bristol didn't create much and we were complete garbage.
