Harry Vaughan was part of the travelling squad yesterday so hopefully, he should get some game time if he continues impressing. On a bench of 7, I don't see the point in having Elder, Coyle, and Fig on there when at least 2/3 won't be here next year.
Ebiowei’s first start since May last year yesterday. He wasn’t great by any stretch but nowhere near as bad as some are making out. Definitely needs time if we are planning on extending it a year
Time is a funny thing in football. I don't see why he deserves time but Sinik and Vale don't. If we'd played Jarvis/Snelgrove yesterday and they'd have put that performance level in, they'd be dropped from the 18 without much of a question. We're used to players who are technically limited, and I'm absolutely fine with that, but all our players show real desire and commitment, I haven't seen that with ME. If he was raw, and a bit slack/sloppy in possession but put a real shift in and ran himself into the ground, I'd not criticise him. But the lad doesn't look like he wants to be here. I think the point that is very clear is that we shouldn't have signed him. We needed a wideman who could come into the side and make a real difference instantly. Simply put, that isn't him.
But clearly he’s capable of it and I’m not actually buying into this him not trying, he made more recoveries than Slater and Tufan combined. Like I said not started since May last season and he needs time. Especially if they want him again next year which seemed to be a message over the January window. Would help if we passed the ball out to him a bit quicker plenty of times he could’ve been given the ball and he wasn’t. He was **** yesterday but he’s clearly capable of being a massive threat at this level as any Derby fan will tell you.
Lot of flack for Ebiowei on here, I know he wasn't great but then neither was anybody else. He's young and inexperienced but with loads of skill, he needs looking after on the pitch by a strong and vocal captain, which we don't have. Noticeable that the 10 mins he got in the 2nd half was spent mostly defending so maybe somebody spoke to him.
Reaction to him is a bit typical. Lot of people seemed to have decided he was going to be great even before they'd seen him. Now I think the criticism is overboard. I thought 2 or 3 of our rare best moments in the first half came from him, even though he was careless in possession at times. On tracking back, there were a couple of times he really worked hard to track back for about 60 yards, but then switched off again. He's raw, with potential but doesn't look like he should be in the starting XI at the moment.
I've not seen anything to show he's certainly capable of it. We've seen glimpses. But you have to question what he's been working on at Palace all season. He's come here completely lacking fitness, not just match sharpness, he hasn't looked anywhere close to being fit and I'd have thought they'd have been working heavily on the defensive side of his game. I aren't a fan of players his age leaving regular football either at a good level to go and sit on a PL bench. To me, it shows immaturity. He'd have played regularly at Derby without a doubt if he'd stayed, that sort of experience is vital and you can get away with a lot more indifferent performances when you're a permanent player. It's much harder when you come to us as we had small play-off aspirations but when you don't hit click straight away you get criticism And these situations are exactly why I hate signing youngsters on loan.
I’m getting properly sick of Coyle now. He came on yesterday and instantly gave the ball away that led to their penalty. The. He strutted around looking tough and did **** all. Ebiowei showed yesterday that he has some talent and skill. But he seems to lack concentration right now. At least he worked back when he coughed it up, claims he is unfit are garbage.
Absolutely bang on this.... if eBiowei mis good enough at 19, im sure as hell some of our youngsters are,..
But again that’s based on his first start in nearly a year. If he continues like that beyond this I’ll agree but you can’t write him off based on yesterday like you’re doing. Otherwise we’ll not need to give Rosenior a choice in recruitment moving forward considering this was his first choice attacking recruit
Coyle’s cameo was utterly terrible. Can’t beat his man, slow, just utterly lacklustre in every aspect and we are bringing him on at 0-0 with 30 mins to go. Shocker
Maybe it was the lad who was once Barcewlona that the tow clubs messed up on his transfer/loan to us...
And Darlow was superb, a cut above what we’ve had (and I like Ingram). Very calm and assured, commanded his box and communicated well. Sign him up!
