But instead just saying that it's ****, we're going to do nothing and pointing fingers at the club, you've actually put your point across better and it doesn't get people's backs up
It's not that though is it. If it was It is what it is - the entire football league would doing it. We are one of, if not the only club out of the 92 without a single player who can play as a number 9. That's not normal. Our manager said so today. Therefore it's ok to question the recruitment
You're right it is but surely once a point had been made and it's out in the open, is there any need to keep reiterating that point? We all think that we should've signed at least one more striker either in the summer and in January but the options that were available to the club weren't what the club wanted and like it or not we have to accept that decision
You don't seem to be accepting other people's point of view but keep pushing your point in reply. I'm done.
So make a suggestion on how you would rectify that with players we have available. How would YOU change the team we have now?
Not possible. Like our manager said today " I am sending the team out without the tools". That's why I am annoyed. A managed should never ever say that
What a cop out! Its easy to point fingers and say how **** things are but can't offer a suggestion on how you would set up the team.
I get what you're saying but perhaps, just perhaps, "our much vaunted recruitment system " could not identify a suitable candidate. It maybe that this is one of those situations where we could have done better but in the final analysis it was considered better to not bring a journeyman striker in, who knows. The next transfer window should be interesting though
'Screwing it' would be having the opportunity to sign the right man and saying no ... ... we didn't have that opportunity. 'Screwing it' would be selling Stewart and not replacing him ... ... we didn't and there's no suggestion we intended to.
Generous mate. We witnessed what it was like to have no striker pre Christmas. Form went through the floor. Then to go into the Jan window and let it happen again is "screwing it". It will cost us the play off position IMO. Posting specifically in here as it got too heavy on the match thread and I understand that people didn't need to see so much of it.
Gary Bennett said on radio commentary that "Sorry, but no way is Gelhardt a centre forward", Tony Mowbray is now saying he hasn't got the tools to do the job, Never mind the pro's and con's of getting into the play offs I am worried we will lose Mowbray as well.
Not one for speaking out Tone either. Just gets on with it. First time he has been critical yday. Must be hard like. Getting your team to play Greta football without someone to put it away.
I'd much rather we brought in the right striker, and others, for next season when things have stabilised .... ... than squeeze up now by the skin of our teeth. Some people are saying we don't have a good enough squad for the PL but, nevertheless, want a striker to get us up there. The club are either A. planning our progress or B. operating a massive scam by pretending to, while being happy to stay in the Championship for some reason ... ... if it's the latter could someone please explain why. Surely bringing in a £20m striker to fire us to the PL would bring the club a £100m profit if that's all it takes to get us promoted. If it's that simple why would this 'bunch of conmen' not take that option.
Sorry mate I am not following ? Conmen? I just wanted us to have an option up front to help out attacking players. We left our selves short in the summer and for it to happen again in Jan really is disappointing. It's not unlucky it's being absolutely relentlessly sticking to the model. Has to be some flex and pragmatism, it's professional football. You also have to take opportunities when they arise, they don't come along often. It seems like a massive opportunity missed the way we have handled it.
