Boro were in a far worse position than we are now but didn't give up on the playoffs.

not giving up yet but the lack of striker will probably cost us a play off place sadly

exactly. I was just about to post the same thing. I am yet to see the ‘No-replacement-striker-target man’ group ever discuss/give ideas on how we could approach our games differently given the players at our disposal.

It’s just incessant complaining about the fact we didn’t sign a replacement for LND, and for some reason in the belief some of us are happy about that, or just unaware??

Slightly different take. Nothing can happen until the next window. The striker problem is clearly upsetting quite a few but it’s not going to change until the end of the season. Let’s focus on enjoying the team we have until then. Then we can see what KLD/Speakman have learnt and if they fix up the squad. HAWAY THE LADS!

To change the subject slightly, I think we've not just missed Stewart but we've missed Evans as well to give that experience amongst the young lads in midfield so to replace that experience of both Stewart and Evans I've come up with this team (and you might've noticed that I've finally found how to centre it as well!! :emoticon-0103-cool:) :-

    Patterson

    Hume Ballard Baath Alese/Cirkin

    O'Nien Neil/Michut

    Roberts/Amad Pritchard Clarke/Roberts

    Gelhardt

    Subs : Bass Cirkin/Alese Neil/Michut Gooch Lihadji Ba Roberts/Amad/Clarke

O'Nien would replace the experience we've lost in Evans and I would have him just basically sitting and trying to break up play with either Neil or MIchut alongside. Although its not like for like, Pritchard's experience would replace Stewart's and you would then have the experienced spine I think we've been missing. But by playing Pritchard that means 1 of Roberts, Amad or Clarke misses out. If Clarke keeps his place wide left, then I would play Cirkin as they've linked up well together previously, if Its Roberts then I would have Alese. Whoever misses out playing would be on the bench. So that's my suggestion, I'll now put it out there to be pulled apart <laugh>

think the point is that we're still close to the playoffs so don't write us off.

A bit late in replying, just got back from the game, but that’s about the most crass comment you’ve made on here.
I’ve never put anyone on ignore but this takes me close.

    I'm not saying they did.

They had other problems they strove to overcome.

I'm just not inclined to give up and don't believe the players will either.

That doesn't mean I think we don't miss Stewart or regret we couldn't sign someone as good who'd have been happy to sit on the bench in most games.

OK, just FYI, speakman was not allowed to go out and get anyone costing a decent fee, and good wages.
So it ain't his fault, it's a top table decision.

    You're probably right mate ...

... won't stop me going to the Stoke game believing we'll win and see the back of a blip.

I've watched Sunderland pull things out of the fire too many times to just give up.

I’d like us to see 4-3-3 deployed, at least at the start of games. Not sure who exactly fits best together but we have six players who can slot the midfield 3, and another 7 for the front 3.
