Taken from a facecrap page FOOD SHORTAGES AND BAD WEATHER Not only dont we do Conspiracy Theories here, we certainly dont do politics, so we will be turning off comments for this article Ok, well recently theres been some shortages of mainly salad goods on Supermarket shelves and that has been blamed on bad weather is Spain and Morocco. This is true, there has been some unseasonably cold weather - and theres more to come, as the attached chart illustrates. The main reason behind these shortages is quite simple really. Our Supermarkets want to sell us cheap produce, and to do that they need to squeeze suppliers. In Winter we get our out of season goods like salad foods, from Spain and Morocco where normally the Winter is quite mild. To produce food stuffs as cheap as they can, growers grow their produce either outside or in unheated greenhouses in order to keep costs down. Along comes unseasonably cold weather and frosts destroy the crops, hence the shortages. Why dont "other countries" have shortages? Simple really, they pay more for their food, so growers who DO use heated greenhouses can supply their retailers. Of course there are other factors, energy costs, political and geographical ones (we are on an Island after all), but we would suggest that the main reason for the shortages is the Supermarkets drive to sell us cheap food. Locking growers into cheap production deals has come unstuck. Im concerned, because soon we will be getting New Potatoes from Majorca, which happens to be a favourite of mine! (I buy direct from the wholesaler). But with more cold heading into Spain and possibly Morocco, more shortages are likely.

I meant something worthwhile like painting, metal detecting, photography, collecting vinyl records or dog ownership. Any one of those would make him less sad, all five and, well, we are talking legend status.
Dogs are pointless. You put in stuff that smells like **** at one end and it comes out as **** at the other.
Hmm, clinical trials, as reported in the British Medical Journal.
