It's the same as our fouling/being fouled. Clarke as an example would win twice as many free kicks just by watching Jack Grealish and taking a few tips. Instead he falls so softly that the refs begin to get the impression that he goes down easily and so doesn't get the marginal decisions. Dan Neil on the other hand makes his tactical fouls look so obvious that he gets a booking for the first one rather than getting away with 2 or 3.
