There'll be bluebirds crying And yellow birds flying Tomorrow, just you wait and see There'll be goals and laughter And points ever after For Norwich fans like you and me Despite the nonsense above, I'm actually quite concerned about this game. Cardiff can't do much, but one thing they can do is defend, and if we do our favourite trick of gifting the opposition a lead early in the game, I don't see getting two goals against a packed defence being that easy. I can't remember the game at the start of the season well enough to recall whether Cardiff play a hard press or sit deep with ten men and challenge the opposition to score. Since we still seem to struggle against any kind of press, I tend to hope it's the latter. On the other hand, several players should have sky-high confidence after the game against Brum. Sara now has a clear role and is flourishing alongside McLean, Nunez worked much better further forward, our playing out from the back seemed calmer with Gunn and Gibson, and even Tzolis may finally be starting to fulfil his potential. On the other other hand, we don't seem able to use a good performance as a platform to build up a run of good performances and results. Our confidence still seems paper-thin and flaky. (I have decided this is going to become my lucky word and I will use it every match thread until we lose.) If there are no injuries, I imagine it will be an unchanged side? Come on you Canaries!
Great match thread yet again Gozo! Key squad updates from the presser: Kieran Dowell. Knee. Ligament damage. Out until second week of April, David Wagner revealed at Colney. Teemu Pukki (calf). Will be in the squad if he trains later on Friday with no problems. Missed the last two Championship games. Suffered the issue initially in the half-time warm up against Hull ten days ago. Josh Sargent (ankle). Ruled out already for this weekend by Wagner after missing the midweek win over Birmingham. Replaced at half-time last Saturday against Wigan. Sam Byram (hamstring). Wagner does not expect him to be available until March. Jonathan Rowe (ankle). Wagner does not expect him to be a first team option before mid-March. Underwent ankle surgery in early December. According to former boss Dean Smith he damaged ligaments in Tampa at the club's training camp. Przemyslaw Placheta (shin). Wagner does not expect him to be a first team option before mid-March. Working on rehab at Colney after a loan move Birmingham was cut short. Last featured in August. Newcastle United loanee Isaac Hayden (knee) out after another operation. Wagner hopes he is available for 'closing games of the season'.
Hopefully Tzolis or Marquinos can step in for him. Gibbs has been used there as a sub as well but not ideal. Time for Kamara to make the bench?
Jon Rowe made a goal scoring return in a 2-2 draw for the development squad today against Mtddlesborough.Abu Kamara also a notable absentee Rowe played for first 45 minutes , scored in 42nd minute.
Both Rowe and Placheta could be available for mid March, but perhaps Kamara will get his chance of a breakthrough to the top squad. Much could depend on whether Pukki is fit enough to play. He's certainly got the form to justify it. https://www.canaries.co.uk/content/kamara-nominated-for-pl2-player-of-the-month-january https://www.canaries.co.uk/content/late-goals-see-under-21s-share-spoils-with-boro
Thank you GE. On way to the match. Looking forward to it despite the injury situation. Hoping for better than my last game (Burnley). Whatever the outcome though, for me personally, there are many more important things in life as this week has taught me - apologies for being philosophical!! Hope you guys, wherever you may be, are able to follow the match. OTBC
Sunderland just lost to Coventry, so even a draw today will get us above them, and, with all four teams above them having away games, a win would almost certainly mean we were back in the play-off positions.
Interesting lineup which could mean Sørensen replacing Giannoulis at LB or providing a third CB in a 3-4-3 formation like that we finished with against Birmingham. Expect that Pukki won't be risked unless it's really necessary, so Kamara could get his chance.
What do you have to do once you click on the link, Bure? I just get details of the game without any click for streaming.
