Not a problem... Also you can his non involvement in training as he chats informally with the coaches saying what he would do if he was allowed.. Nudge nudge wink wink.
To be honest yesterday I was very underwhelmed by the appointment. I realised that the circus Leeds had become had really affected me badly and I had no confidence in the board getting this appointment right. I was very negative because after the Everton game I felt like all the hope had been extinguished and they needed to reignite it again. I started to feel better about the appointment today because it is where we are and I will always make my judgement by what I see on the pitch. The words he is a humble man resonated with me (Bielsa) so fingers crossed we start heading in the right direction because we need to fast.
The one thing every new coach/manager needs is time and that of course is something we simply don't have. Javi Gracia might be the best coach the world has ever seen but what can he do with a couple of days training before Saturday, a trip to Fulham on Tuesday and then another trip to London to face Chelsea 4 days later ? On the other hand football players these days are used to most systems and should be able to adapt quickly. Hopefully lady luck smiles on us with 3 points against Southampton to take some heat out of the situation.
Apparently, at his interview, he presented Orta with an analysis of how we should set up to play to beat Southampton and what he intends on doing on the training ground before we play them. He said he’d watched the Chelsea game that they’d played as he knew how important three points against Southampton was going to be. Quite clever really as he isn’t permitted to take the training until his permit goes through but I bet Orta insisted on filing that application
The only thing Gracia has in his favour is he has a better squad than we had last season. He has 3 more games too. Lift the players heads in training this week and give them a plan to show each of them at their best. The squad should pick itself and if that means a couple of players who haven’t added much are on the bench then good. There are some players who need to start just because they haven’t been given a chance yet like Georginio. We may even see Roca, Adams and McKennie rocking midfield, we may even see Gnonto and Georginio up front, we may see a better version of Aaronson… Who knows but make or break game this
