According to Phils post today Celtic are supporting the minumum punishment for gers going into administration. 10 point deduction and nothing else. Shocking if true.
I've posted about this twice on other threads , Celtic have just released a statement to ignore all Internet rumours, mind you they don't say which one!!!
Wouldn't surprise me if it was true. The way our Board operates seems to be in the best interests of Rangers.
it's the same as three years ago , the rumour was when we were going for four in a row . We allowed Rangers to win the league to stop them going bust, personally I want them punished the same way as Dundee ,Livingston or Gretna or Scottish football will lose all creditability
If you read the comments after Phils blog ,Celtic official comment on Facebook and celtic quick news ,to a man everybody says they would hand back their season tickets and never set foot in Celtic park again .
Could this be the reason why Rangers have been 'allowed' to go so many points clear in the league at the moment.....such a great institution, such a great football club, look how much better they are than all the other teams in the league at the moment, they are needed by all - surely for the sake of Scottish football they cannot be allowed to disappear - they must be given special treatment..........!!!!
when looking at this thread on my phone the avatar and nickname column was hidden. After reading that post I knew it was you that wrote it ya dick!
What a load of pish. Do the Celtic board get to veto/approve any fine from the HMRC too? And don't get me started on "the rumour was when we were going for four in a row . We allowed Rangers to win the league to stop them going bust"
See this ****e... This is why people tar all Celtic fans with the same brush - paraniod n rambling! Celtic are a business ran by shareholders for shareholders - one goal, increase dividends! To do that in football, you have to win the league as a starting point!
Bollo , bollo , we are talking about rumours on this thread , at what stage have I ever said I believed in any of them ???
Oh you believe. You buy into anything that isn't sensible ya knob! Sometimes I think the accusation about you being ST's alter wum ego but that would be a major back fire. No I think you are uniquely who you are ya Muppet!
Dundee were not deducted ANY points when they first went into adminstration (in 2003) and the 25 deduction last year was because it was their second administration. Livingston were relegated for a second spell in adminstration (first in 2004 when they were in the SPL - no points deduction). That was also the punishment of the SFL, not the SPL, and was due to the owner refusing an offer for his shares and breaking rules on liquidation. When Gretna went into adminstration in 2008, they received a 10 point deduction (under the current SPL rules). They were only demoted to division 3 after they had already been relegated from the SPL - the reason was that due to their financial difficulties they could not guarantee they would be able to fulfil their fixtures - as it was they were liquidated 3 days later. So all this pish about Rangers 'getting off' with a 10 point deduction is complete and utter bullshit. Of the clubs you mention, only Gretna received any points deduction at all when they were in the SPL. Any other punishments were for repeated offences, were administered by the SFL and are completely irrelevant to Rangers.
10 point penalty if you go into administration fair enough , if you come back as a new club there has to be more penalties. All these things you won during tax evasion have to made null and void , but how to you compensate the clubs that lost out to your cheating ????
Och wheesht. So every game they won for 10 years should be null and void? And the punishment will be severe - adminstration is not 'easy', far from it. Players will have to go, cutbacks made. They will be in severe, severe difficulties, potentially for years. And this is all making the assumption that they'll actually lose the case. To be honest, as a celtic fan, I'm far, far more concerned by where out club is going, our issues with consistency, whether our manager is up to the job etc than potential punishments for Rangers.
Fair enough AP - I totally agree that as Celtic fans we should be more concerned by the situation at our club. However, if (and I know it's a big "if") the 'rumour' turns out to be true that "Celtic are supporting the minimum punishment for gers going into administration" - what are your views on that?
the current rules are a 10 point deduction if you go into administration. as celtic are part of the spl then they have to agree to the rules to participate. They can't just say that rangers should recieve a 25 point penalty and relegation when the rules are already in place. on another note as much as people might not like it we need rangers as much as they need us. scottish football is in trouble right now and if they went under (don't believe this will happen) it would also be the end for celtic unless we were allowed to join the EPL
