I have watched the videos thank you Manny.

I see nothing special about Schumacher going around the Hungaroring on an empty track (save one car who got out of his way) whilst driving the best car.

If you want a quali special then watch the onboard video of Senna at Monaco (1990 i believe). That is a pole lap.

Donington 93, incredible lap by Senna and to top it all Schumacher slid off at Redgate a bit later on lap 22, I was there, I saw it all, but it was SSSoooooo ****ing cold.

no need to worry about my memory cc , if people read my topic properly i would have thought they would have easily gathered that i hoping for laps of consummate skill and abilty by drivers at the peak of there powers , everybody else that contributed did seem to understand the gist of my topic and contributed with drivers showing breathtaking abilty including you with your memories of jim clark ,

to be honest i dont call hamiltons final lap of brazil 08 remotely close to the gist of my topic and that is not a criticism of lewis ,
however ------ if i did not explain myself clearly enough and maybe i didnt for that i apologise -- i cant be any fairer than that --

believe it or not saint despite of my respect for senna if i had of been able to have thought of a better lap than donnington 93 by anybody else i would have played the white man and put whatever else lap it was as my choice , in fact i did think long and hard about villeneuve vs arnoux 79 before i posted my own choice ,

i cant speak for forza and eternal only they can answer that one --- what else can i say --

Laps of genuine quality which stick in the mind are quite hard to find. Hence i think many are sturggling to find laps of anyone other than their favourite driver.

The last lap at Dijon was indeed a classic. Not sure how much skill was involved as Arnoux & Villenueve just went at it brutally and let's be honest, were bloody lucky not to end up in the armco they banged wheels so much. It is a lap that is played over and over again though such was the excitement of it.

A bit like Dijion 79, think Monaco 92. Senna v Mansell.

Senna fending off with some vigour the advances of Mansell, Mansell fighting hard but not stupid enough to put his car in a position where they would both be taken off.

i can understand the emotional attachment to hamilton winning the WDC but the lap itself when looked at in isolation was nothing special ,
i was hoping people would contribute with examples of seat of the pants skill by whatever driver without the patriotic emotional attachment of there favourite driver cruising round in 5th place or whatever it was to pick up a WDC in the best car on the day --- no matter

however fair play to sea-man as maybe i did not explain my topic as well as i could of done --

i could never why people thought those final few laps of monaco 92 was anything special , mansell in a million yrs was never going to get past senna , in fact if you look at the footage closely mansell never even tried a proper move on senna ,

mansell knew he was not going to get past and senna probally knew that mansell knew as well , i suppose people have raved about it over the yrs because it was nigel and senna at the show piece GP in such close quarters , but it never done alot for me ,

have a look at patrese and senna during the final few laps of germany 92 if you want proper fighting , senna in ruthless bastard mode defending his place like a pit bull defends a pork chop ---

no problem seaman i know your fondness for lewis and i can understand that , we all have a driver we like -
i was hoping more for a lap of consummate skill , speed and abilty , and just cruising round in 5th place or whatever it was it not really what i had in mind -

probally my fault as maybe i did not explain my topic in as much detail as i could have done --

Marshmallow (I know you're a big softy really ;)): I think the title of the thread was very good.
In my opinion, it would have been sufficient to leave it as simple and open ended as that. It encourages and allows for people to express their interest with
passion, which is surely a good thing for any forum?

Perhaps another thread entitled something along the lines of "What's the most skilful lap you ever witnessed?" would have narrowed it down a tad; but I actually think you nailed it with this title! - It allows for a much wider choice, with a far greater potential to ignite the passion of all readers.

I thought it was a great theme, and very creative.

I thought this was pretty special, the timing had to be right and he If I recall correctly was the only one to get enough heat into the tyres and breaks.

When the cars were finally allowed out to qualify in Q1 at Spa 2010 which was held up due to rain, everyone piled out at once and the track was soaking, people were aquaplaning everywhere but also trying to set thier laps as the clock was fast running out,

Schumacher was near the back and was overtaking a car at nearly every corner as he set his lap, I thought that was a pretty cool lap, in fact that was probably the best Q1 I have ever seen.

Just watched the Germay 92 GP (as per martial). Senna showing how to defend, Mansell had to fight tooth and nail for that win.
