It gets better - the margins on PPE contracts (many of which were fast tracked for the benefit of people who knew Con MPs, Ministers etc), were 25 to 55%. Pretty good when a margin of 10% on a business would keep shareholders more than happy. In a lot of cases the money went straight offshore and in a few cases the companies were immediately wound up after delivery so they don't have to provide accounts.

Looking at the cash spent on Covid one of the real elephants in the room is the £17bn in loan fraud to small businesses. Borrowed the money one day and folded the next, reopening the day after. There are many across all of society who should hang their heads in shame.
I think it's all about limited liability. We know it was fraud but since the business's are not there any longer they cannot be held liable.
