Lori's Karius is between the sticks in the league cup final against him Manchester United This time I wish him luck.
WouldWould Would like Newcastle to beat Manchester United even if there is no one between the sticks for Newcastle.
Its not done much for the Give English managers a chance at a top club, has it ?that said i do feel he needs more time
was never ready. whats happened thus far is exactly what problems.brighton had. they couldn't score either.
Doesn’t help that he’s got 40 players turning up to training. Half of them know they won’t be included in the squad let alone the first team. Trying to implement some kind of tactics to that number of players, many of which seem like they are pieces from different puzzles completely. I think who ever comes in will have exactly the same issue for rest of this season. they need to get to end of season, move on 15 players that they don’t need and want, get the squad down to manageable levels and allow potter to actually coach the players that he wants there
he's not good enough. he never was and never will be. he is the equivalent of Chris hughton, can do some parts of the job once he aligns his team up but cannot get goals. they replaced a negative manager who could really organise a defence with a guy who should be able to do the same but hasn't even managed that. Further when you've massive egos like silva for example and you are a nobody you are on a hiding to nothing.
I think you're right - having too many players (and so many new ones) is a problem. Teams of any level thrive on a sense of camaraderie, of being in it together. It's hard to get that with the crazy set-up there atm. It would take time to even see if it can work, and time is something he's unlikely to have. That squad needs a ruthless paring down, but I don't know if Potter is the man to do that.
Stupid comment. You can’t write him off and say he wasn’t ever and won’t ever be good enough. Good enough for what? What constitutes being good enough. Roberto di mateo won them a CL so he was a success no? But most will say he was a poor manager. Rafa won them the EL and got top 4 but many say he wasn’t good enough. Klopp didn’t win anything with us for a few years, was he not good enough then? This is a guy that took a team in Sweden from div 2 to Europe. He took over at Brighton and totally transformed that team from fighting relegation to solid mid table to then challenging for europe while playing quality football. He’s a very good coach. He’d been dumped wit a load of players half of which I doubt he wants. Let’s be real how many of chelsea signings would you want at lfc? Fernandez, badiashell (sp), fofana. Maybe Mudryk and Felix at a push if we didn’t have 6 forwards already. Add in fact had also lost two key players in James and chilwell and replaced with Cucurella and Azpilicueta for most of the season. If we lost Robbo and TAA for most of last season I’d doubt we’d have been in the running for 4 trophies.
yes i can No good enough to step in to take on a massive egoist and his ego club full of ego players. he simply doesn't have the gravitas to put manners on the players or stop the mad spending flooding his dressing room with random players who are not needed. Klopp walked into anfield like a god among men. Everyone bowed down and licked his boots day 1. It was his way or no way. there are a lot of good coaches out there. hell gareth southgate might even be a decent coach but that will not change the fact that his team can't score goals and none of his sides have particularly scored goal. this is the same as Rodgers. Wandered in too early into the big job, ****ed himself up by being to weak to say stop don't you ****ing dare offer me balotelli or e'too and then had no real style bar "nice" rodgers got the push and did the minor league **** and is a firmly mid table manager. Never ever ever going to me more. Potter just is not up to whipping that dressing room into shape, he cannot get a tune out of them and he clearly isn't being listen to in the buying either. If you look at the chelsea signings they are wild, just targetting every name an agent drops in someones lap or just the flavour of month and frankly potter has to take some blame as he simply must put his hand up and say stop for the love of god. Enzo Fernandez - £106.8m - Not really needed and not at that much Mykhailo Mudryk - Shakhtar Donetsk, £88.5m - signed cos arsenal wanted him. had 2 lws already Benoit Badiashile - Monaco, £35m - signed just cos... another LCB. Already have 2. David Datro Fofana - Molde, undisclosed - who cares. god knows why the signed him Andrey Santos - Vasco da Gama, undisclosed - as above Joao Felix - Atletico Madrid, loan - again needed a striekr, lets get a 120 guys. great idea. lets ignore the 3 or 4 10s we already have. Noni Madueke - PSV, £29m - another winger, another not needed Malo Gusto - Lyon, £26.3m - another right full. not needed If we really look at the cheslea squad this absolute gluttony in terms of players is nonsensical. they went to the CL last 16 and played Kepa (woeful player, why the **** has mendy been dropped.) James (rb) Silva (in a back 4?? WTF) Koulbaly (as above) Chilwell (wing back not a lb) Fernandez Loftus cheek (wtf) Mudryk (Lw, just falls over) Felix (at 10) ziyech (rw but seemingly out the door, wheres all the signings???) Havertz (never ever a 9 but played there due to stupid cheslea trasnfers.) So we've 3 winter signings starting thier key game. The wrong formation to get the best out of silva and koulibaly and chilwell. inexplicably potter favoured 343 or 352 at brighton. Left on bench Fofana (only forward there?) Cucurella Azpi (surely RCB surely) Kovacic (surely better than loftus cheek) Confirmed Chelsea depa
He took over. they then won 6 and drew 3 of first 9 games. record pre jan window was Played 15 Won 8 Draw 3 lost 4 Bot brilliant record but not awful. 4 defeats against Brighton away, city away in league cup. Arsenal at home and Newcastle away. his record since January played 10 Won 1 lost 5 drawn 4 no coincidence that since he’s been inundated with more players (as I say majority of which I doubt he actually wanted) the form has nose dived. He’s a good coach but just needs the owner to piss off out of the recruitment side and leave him to actually run the football team in the way that he can.
Also you can’t in same post state they didn’t need Badiashile and Fernandez, then laugh at fact they played koulibaly silva at cb and RLC at cm. Surely that just proves the point that those 2 were needed as they didn’t have enough quality in the positions? same with RB. Azpilicueta has been **** for a year now and will prob be gone in summer so they needed back up for James. Felix, Mudryk, madueke are the ones they prob didn’t need given they have sterling ziyech pulisic already but it’s clear the last 2 will be gone in the summer and owner just wants to buy best young players around.
Its a bit of a meh record TBH. theres a simple solution to all the recruitment. Thats to stand up and say welcome now do to the back of the queue and prove yourself in my system. the reality is they cannot score goals Its up and down type of scoring record the whole time. I wouldn;t even include CL group games as those are salzburg, zagreb and leipzig. the fact they didn't win all 6 games is poor ffs. 12 September onwards, first you've the postponements due to the queen mindfart by the nation. then a short burst of game shaving had a t least 3 weeks with his players and a couple CL games to get himself set up. Palace win (easy game ) wolves win (easy game) villa win (easy game) Brentford draw 0-0 Utd draw 1-1 brighton absolutely hockey them 1-4 Arsenal loss 1-0 city beat them in league cup 2-0 Newcastle beat them 1-0 Already the pattern is clear, no goals coming and leaking at the back. the first 3 were absolutely gimmies Long long break then to think about things and get ready for the restart. villa - loss 0-1 (poor poor result) bournmoeuth 2-0 win (should be winning this with eyes closed) forest draw 1-1 City 0-1 loss (poor game tbh) City fa cup hockeyed 0-4 fulham loss 1-2 with red card. in fairness it was early as well. Palace 1-0 win (scraped late) Liverpool 0-0 draw. awful game, they could not score and we were very vunerable at the time fulham 0-0 west ham 1-1 (really poor result) southampton 0-1 (shocker) This is absolutely clear pattern imo. Its gone on since last October that result have been pretty poor and they have struggled for goals. Every decent side they meet can get a result off them, the only wins in there are against teams any side in the top half should be winning. there's result after result that would get another Chelsea manager the sack in the previous era. Sorry but you've no need to be loyal to a man who was happy to leave your other club you've landed on your feet with probably a better manager now and are on the up. The main difference between this guy and klopp is klopp has the record of success AND proven to get out of the **** as well and come back strong. even klopp has the wolves circling on line. This guy is failing in front of us. the only worry i have is we don't play them until at least mid march and its highly likely he will be sacked by then.
I know very little about Todd Boehly - which is slightly more than he appears to know about football. He seems to think that you just buy as many big names or touted prospects as you can, throw them all together and hope that they make a team. Footballer stew. This is about the same as Man U did post-Fergie, which is why it's taken them ten years to look decent again.
