Wilder or Jones for me. Jones might be a little pec but he certainly gets his team going in this division and that's what we need right now. Someone really hands on and more demanding of players
Hoping we go for Wilder. He might come with a higher wage demand, but can't be more expensive than dropping to L1. Feel very sorry for NC as his track record at Blackpool was very good and I'm sure we're not exactly a fair test for any manager right now.
https://m.skybet.com/football/manager-specials/event/31061696 Gareth Ainsworth 1/4 Chris Wilder 6/1 Nathan Jones 10/1 Marti Cifuentes 12/1 Paul Hall 12/1 Anthony Barry 16/1 John Eustace 16/1 Mark Robins 16/1 Scott Parker 16/1 Brian Barry-Murphy 20/1
I feel the likes of Wilder may want a tad more than what QPR can offer. We know the situation, sell best players, no money to spend etc etc. It's going to be a difficult sell to any manager with ambition to not just progress with us but also his personal career.
Nice bloke / wrong bloke A decision had to be taken, its a results business after all Shame it wasn't taken a week ago when Warnock was available just to steady the ship this season whilst a more permanent candidate was found
Be a difficult sell to attract a manager of calibre considering our business model. Managers like Wilder want to progress in the game and we just can't give any guy the ammunition to do so.
Announcement on a Sunday evening unusual but then so is everything about our club...god knows who comes in, fair play if they can steady the ship and win the few games we need
Yeah, I know what you mean. Maybe it's just what we need to be honest, can't imagine him taking much **** and is used to little to nothing budget wise.
I would have taken Warnock in a heartbeat. I liked him before he came to QPR. Always a ****, but that type of **** was a good fit for QPR.
Thinking about it - a little bit of my does worry about the message this sends out to the players. Throw your toys out the pram when MB goes, down tools for the new gaffer and we'll sack him instead of dealing with you. Probably the curse of modern football, player power and all that.
I read Warnock interview yesterday, he said there were only three clubs he would get back into management for, Huddersfield, Cardiff or us
Can’t help but feel bad for Critchley. But he just wasn’t working out and it was the obvious thing to make the change. Bit bizarre waiting post the ‘boro game as he was pretty much nailed in to lose that. Unfortunately he didn’t come across well at all. After ‘the snake’ he would have seemed boring to the players too. I also wasn’t impressed by the staff he brought in with him either … nothing really tore up any trees did it. Good luck in the game NC. Wrong job for you unfortunately. Now who next? It’s not an inspiring list, but as Bob points out, who’s lining up for this one? Not many if they’ve watched us. I can’t see Gareth being the one - this really isn’t the job to walk into. Wilder? Is he too expensive? Are we too much of a basket case for him? Jones - I just don’t like the bloke - shouldn’t come into it but it does. We need someone with some gravitas, take no sh1t and get down to some real business with this squad. They need leadership.
