Great win and much needed considering the other results. Positives of Bournemouth and Everton winning are that Wolves are still in it and Leeds are really struggling now, which is good going into the game with them.

I, like many others, think survival is beyond us still, all things considered. BUT, yesterday gives me (us) a lot more hope and I feel much more positive with Selles in charge. He already has the fan support, which is massive, and the players are with him, but he also seems to know what he’s doing, which is a breath of fresh air considering the last three months. Can’t get too excited, because I felt similarly happy after Everton away, but it’s nice not having to wince after press conferences/interviews. Amazing what personality can do for the fan base. Everyone was well behind him after just one press conference. Having had Ralph for so long, it was always going to be important for our club to have a popular manager, which was another X in the Jones box. Don’t think I’ll ever get over that appointment.

Appointing Selles seems a no brainer. If he keeps us up - unreal, but if we go down then we’d have a manager who likes the club and has the player’s backing. That could even see us keep a few players until at least the January window next year. I know I shouldn’t be thinking about the championship considering the high of yesterday, but I guess it’s a force of habit as a Saints fan.

Win against Leeds and my outlook will be even more positive.

My decision to send him to 99% of press conferences over 10 years on my FM23 game is completely vindicated

Was shouting “shoot” at Stuey as he ran across the front of their box, but then he drew the foul and we all knew what was coming next…

Pretty sure the camera cut to Azpilicueta after (I think it was his foul?) and he clearly said “****ing hell”. He knew what he had done!

Yes and remember Pickford went ballistic when Gray i think conceded a free kick in JWP territory in the win at Goodison.

I was right at the back of the top tier yesterday and I'm glad I was as it gave me a great view of how we set up. It was joyous to see an old fashioned 4-4-2 in action! Also it was bloody loud up there as the sound got trapped under the roof.

The atmosphere was cracking yesterday, including in the concourse at half time. Was chatting to loads of Saints fans yesterday, it was nice to see happy faces for a change

I genuinely love him. That’s how you talk. Properly good management, bigging up the players and giving them a platform to perform.

Not wanting to go overboard based on one result (cheering as that is), but don’t know why some talk as if we are already down. It is very close still....though we enter a critical period. I suspect a few more matches and a gap will open. Good time for the team to step up.

I don't think if you're Potter you make the move from Chelsea to Southampton. Salary alone, but also you've managed in the CL - he's got a slightly different profile now, even if he is deemed a failure. I know we won a game, but we're still 20th in the league, and I don't know if we're needing to put fending off Graham Potter on our list of concerns. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Gives all the praise to everyone else. Not to himself. Unlike…well…unlike someone else we know.

I think he's amazing, and a massive breath of fresh air. Didn't realise how much weight could be lifted off our collective shoulders by one man. It's light where recently it was pitch black! But I don't get the rush to appoint him - why not have him fight for his appointment, and just keep doing what he's doing, with the players wanting to help him get that appointment? We've seen countless examples of performance dropping off as soon as someone's given a contract. I'd keep him interim for a while longer yet. Beating Chelsea is one thing, psychologically - will be interesting to see us tackle the really tough games, against teams around us. They're truly the games that matter. We still haven't scored from open play - that was the the true crime when NJ was in charge!

I'll add I want him as manager just like most of us - just very easy for everyone to get comfortable very quickly when a contract is in place. Also get that you don't want to leave it too long either. But there is a balance to get right.

I don’t think you can compare him with Nathan Jones. That is like comparing a £1.99 bottle of Italian Red Spar wine to a £20 bottle of Barolo

Where are you getting Barolo for £20 over here?!
