There was minimal contact if any! The fact tufan made it blatantly obvious he was trying to buy a pen with his pathetic theatrical dive and then roll around pretending to be injured, gave the Ref absolutely no choice but to book him, which im glad he did! It was cheating.
Stats can really paint a wrong picture, we didn't out play them, we had a patch on top and so did they, the rest of the game was 2 midtable teams playing out a boring mid table game
I think when you walk away from a game where only one side had any real chances to win it (outside of that Delap shot that lashed side netting) I don't know how you can say we didn't outplay them.
Easy, I was there and saw the game and as I said, we had patches, they had patches and the rest of the game was 2 mid table teams playing out a mid table game. But if you want to go into stats, take a look at the over all general stats for the game.... We just did a little more ( very poorly ) in the final third
I'd be interested to see those stats. He put it in the stand on at least 3 occasions and on another occasion did that pathetic dive. The one decent moment I can remember from him was that shot on target in the second half from the left. The season stats on WhoScored don't look great for Tufan: Key Passes per game Seri 1.8 Pelkas 1.1 Docherty 0.9 Slater 0.7 Tufan 0.6 Woods 0.6 Pass completion Seri 89% Woods 86% Slater 82% Tufan 80% Docherty 79% Pelkas 75% Assists Slater 2 Seri 2 Woods 2 Docherty 1 Pelkas 1 Tufan 0 Times dispossed per game Woods 0.4 Pelkas 0.5 Slater 0.6 Seri 0.8 Docherty 1 Tufan 1.2 Unsuccessful Touches per game Woods 0.5 Tufan 0.9 Pelkas 1.3 Seri 1.3 Docherty 1.5 Slater 1.5 So Tufan isn't creating as much as the other midfielders with his passing, gives it away a lot and is dispossed more often than any of the other midfielders. He does come out well on unsuccessful touches, but still not as good as Woods, who doesn't get half the praise he does.
Oscars chance inside the box was great But he completelly miskicked the ball which made it a comfortable save for the keeper Frustrating
And they where well on top for the first 20/30mins of the second half and should have had it tied up. The fact neither of us did shows just where both teams are in the grand scheme of things. We had a period on top, they had a period on top. The rest of the game was pretty even.
He's doing that a little to often ATM, earlier in the season when he was on his goalscoring run, they went in, hopefully he just needs a goal to kick start again .... Saying that, I wouldn't be surprised to see him start on the bench in the next game. Same with Ingram ( Rosie really wasn't happy with him on more then one occasion yesterday)
Amazingly I saw the game too and we should have been out of sight by HT. We were all over them but lacked the finishing touch.
I was using Sofascore from yesterday, I am confident we need to keep him in the side keep him fit and let him play but they are some interesting insights. Seems I am correct about keeping the ball and having a better touch but seems you're on the money with the wasteful elements to his game.
And they were all over us for a period in the second half but lacked anything in the final third just like we did.... You used stats to say we totally outplayed them l, I've just showed you 2 sets of stats that show the game was pretty even bar the final third were both teams where poor hence the game was 0-0.
They were on top for a brief spell where they couldn't manage a shot on target. No game of football will have one side in complete control for the full 90 minutes. Even Man City struggle for patches in games like they did on the weekend. I just can't fathom anyone saying we didn't control a game where we ensured the opposition didn't manage a shot on target.
Stats without basis don't detail much Seri who has the ball more often statistically should lose the ball more Player in the middle of the pitch should have a higher pass rate Attacking players should have less pass completion
Tufan is a frustrating one, he has talent, he just doesn't seem to have the drive to make something of his career, his fitness levels for a pro are awful ( which the club are working really hard to try and change this ), He drifts in and out of games way to much and to easily, he can make a fantastic pass followed up by an awful one he balloons out for a goal kick / throw in. He just seems to coast through most of the time and its really frustrating.
That ball should have gone to doc who was running up in the outside of longman Oscar had two players around him Bad choice imho
I think one of our biggest defensive strengths is defending crosses and wideballs now Although ive noticed we seem prone to giving the oppo too much space for cutbacks I wonder if thats the nature of our defensive structure, or if its something our players need to improve on positionally
I think the dive looked more theatrical because the contact didn't come. Tufan had few options so decided he was going to get a touch and go down hoping there would be contact.
