Well, it was only a matter of time before we lost one lads.

    The reason we lost -

No bruno = Less defensive cover + Joelinton moves to the center, so he roams around a lot less putting pressure on their midfielders before they can play killer passes.

Also the loss of Willock on top of Bruno meant another player who has been at times pivitol to us defensively because of his pressing.

We couldn't press as effectively today to stop the killer passes being played in behind.

You could just simplify it to - No bruno = No win.

    A positive -

We're essentially a full strength side for the next game besides Pope. Willock is a big mix, but it may be a blessing in disguise as ASM will definitely play at a time where goals have been difficult to come by.

Ratings - Not gonna bother rating Anderson or Pope

    Dubravka - 7 - Some good saves.

Trippier - 2 - His worst ever game.

    Schar - 4

    Botman - 4

    Burn - 3 - Very poor

    Longstaff - 5 - Not bad

Joelinton - 6 - Good defending and pressing

Almiron - 6.5 - Good work rate, still getting into some great positions, close to scoring.

ASM - 7.5 - Great dribbling, good runs, a threat all game. MOTM

    Wilson - 3 - Poor

Isak - 5.5 - Not bad. He had some good touches, put himself about. Some good running on the ball.

Gordon - 6 - Set up the best chance of the game for us, some decent dribbling at times.

    Murphy - 5

Ritchie - 6.5 - I was impressed when he came on tbh

Murphy was better than Ritchie. Murphy was a 6 and Ritchie was a 6 but on the lower end

Ritchie did more IMO. I saw nothing from Murphy other than work rate and **** crosses. Ritchie put in some decent balls and defended well.

Murphy defended just as well and played some good balls in and around ASM

Murphy did well covering as right full back, stopped / held up a lot of Liverpool attacks coming down that side in the last 10mins

Predictable defeat but a spirited performance. Today has shown me any faint hopes of top 4 are gone. If anything it should make the rest of the season alot more enjoyable and relaxed. As for the cup final next week... We will do well to score.
