It's a comedy series. Alien comes to earth to destroy earth. Fails, takes over the body of a retired doctor as a disguise to avoid being seen. Town doctor gets murdered and the alien is "forced" to temporarily take over as the new town doctor.
Oh good grief... From New York post article (yes, I know ny post, not usually worth reading).. At first I thought this was satire when I started reading it. (Especially after seeing the authors name) Binary sex IS the norm. Mother and Father IS the norm. Not saying being "other" is wrong, less acceptable or anything like that... full support to anyone who wants to live however they want and deem appropriate for themselves, but the assault on language and science for the sake of political correctness needs to stop. Science isn't about making people feel better about themselves. Goes on to say shouldn't use phrases like "citizen science" because it is offensive to non citizens. I was a non citizen here for over a decade and never once felt like I should be offended by that term.
These movements carry very sinister Orwellian overtones to me. The idea that you can alter people's ways of thinking by limiting their language is both reprehensible and largely ineffective imo. People's minds are changed through education and an appeal to their intellect and understanding - not through language proscription by self-appointed arbiters of correctness.
I will not be able to get a guest for the next match thread, unless I can do it tonight as I am up in the Arctic Circle from tomorrow until Thursday. Before anyone gets worried I am not stupid I know it is cold up there, minus 36 degrees last week, so I am taking an extra jumper.
Whole household has COVID, all for the first time. I got Ill on Tuesday, tested positive on Thursday. Wife and almost 2 year old got it yesterday (but seems ok today) and 3 year-old today. Both kids vomiting with theirs. Lovely
nasty. ours all got over it quick. a nose of temperature reducing stuff and that was it. Once that temp was gone they were quickly over it. hopefully you'll feel better soon.
Yeah, 22month old's illness was only about 24 hours! I was laid up in bed for 2.5 days! Reckon lad will be ok tomorrow.
So someone somewhere has decided that characters in Willy winks can’t be fat anymore, has to be enormous. The people in the twits are no longe ugly and beastly and are just beastly. The bfg’s coat can’t be described as black (going to cause no end of issues if we can’t descriptor black clothing by it’s colour going forward) and ‘white as a sheet’ is no longer allowed, stiff as a ghost is the acceptable term (how long before ghosts complain they aren’t all stiff and that gets amended). Also ghosts are notoriusly not stiff given they float around so not even sure that phrase makes sense anymore?!
All absurd. All this accomplishes is making people more fragile. Not saying deliberately offensive content is OK, it clearly isn't, but we're just making the bar ever more delicate to where people will crumble.
It's been ridiculous for a long time, it's still getting worse and showing no sign of showing down. An shambles of a country / world we live in
So I'm thinking of watching a western tonight. I was thinking of watching "The good, the bad, and the censored.". Or maybe I'll watch "My big censored Greek wedding" instead. "Coyote Censored"? Never seen that. "Casa Censored" is supposedly a classic, could watch that.
