Weather looks shocking!! I have the Sunderland stream.. blimey the commentators get right excited over the minuet of a chance!!! City looking pretty decent without any clear cut chances.. 0-0 HT
A good first half by City but the Atkinson injury has to be a concern. Overall I'm sure Nigel will be happy with the score and he has to be happy with Mehmeti's showing as he looks very lively on and off the ball. Zak is really looking good at the back and his game has come on leaps and bounds this season, but I hope I don't jinx him by saying that.
Half-time player ratings Max O'Leary - 6 George Tanner - 6 Zak Vyner - 7 Rob Atkinson - N/A Tomas Kalas - 7 Cam Pring - 6 Matty James - 8 Joe Williams - 7 Alex Scott - 7 Mark Sykes - 7 Sam Bell - 6 Anis Mehmeti - 7 (Bristol Post)
I agree, Zak looks a different player.. Actually we look decent at the back (hope I’m not jinxing it).. Square pegs and common sense formations with the players we have has helped!!
Too much room for Sunderland to blast in front and that didn't look good from our back line. C'mon City we need to get back in this game now. Changes coming?
Sunderland battering us now and it's only for a couple of great saves from Max they would be out of sight.
Lost chances and poor decisions have cost us dearly today after controlling the first half. Penalty for City but can we score after so long?????? PENALTY YES YES YES. Nakhi Wells makes it 1-1 just brilliant.
How great to see the 1400+ City supporters cheer for the penalty (finally after 400+ days). We deserved the point and I wish all of those supporters a safe trip back to Bristol after watching us never giving up, and that's the difference for me at the moment. Each player out there gave their all, and although it is concerning with the injury substitution of Atkinson it was good to see Kalas back at his almost best. Well done the lads.
A point at Sunderland is always a good thing and I reckon if we had taken our chances we could have taken all the points. Sykes should have taken 2 chances but decided to pass rather than shoot, but I don't want that comment to be considered a criticism of him but rather a situation that happened to a couple of other players. Looking at the well taken Sunderland goal sometimes a bit of welly does the job just as well as another needless pass. However it showed the resilience of our current squad to come back from certain defeat to take a point, and that matters just as much as the missed opportunities. Great result and now on to the next 3 points, plus a game against a mediocre Man City who should be easy pickings.
