    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - Elwood Park
    Date - 18 February 2023
    Kick off - 3:00pm

Following their desperately hard fought 2-1 home win over bottom of the table Blackpool, next up for Russel Martin’s mid-table Swans is a tricky looking trip to Play-Off hopefuls Blackburn Rovers.

On Wednesday evening, Blackpool remained bottom of the Championship after Mick McCarthy's 10-man team went down 2-1 to the Swans.

Matty Sorinola volleyed Swansea into a deserved lead before Charlie Patino was sent off having been shown a second yellow card.

Despite being down to 10 men, Blackpool levelled when Sonny Carey swept home but were undone minutes later when Callum Connolly's own goal handed victory to the Swans. In some respects, the result was harsh on the Seasiders who arguably deserved a point for their second half display.

As a result, Blackpool remain four points adrift of safety having seen their winless league run stretched to 14 games.

Meanwhile, the Swans climbed to 12th, five points adrift of the top six.

The same evening, Ben Brereton Diaz smashed in a late free-kick to end his personal goal drought and rescue a point for Blackburn against West Brom.

Albion substitute Jayson Molumby's 73rd-minute header had looked to have earned the Baggies all three points, however John Swift was adjudged to have brought down Lewis Travis on the edge of the Baggies’ box in the 89th minute - and Brereton Diaz exacted full punishment from 20 yards with an explosive right-foot shot that debutant Albion keeper Josh Griffiths managed to get a hand to but could not keep out.

It was the first home goal that Albion had conceded in more than 13 hours of football since Carlos Corberan's first game in charge at The Hawthorns in October.

As a result, West Brom stayed 10th in the Championship on 45 points, with Blackburn a point higher in eighth.

The Swans have played Blackburn on 48 previous occasions, winning 16, drawing 8 and losing 24.

In the corresponding fixture last season, Blackburn ran out 2-1 winners in the first match of the 21/22 campaign:

Turning to Saturday, I can see nothing other than a comfortable home win: 3-1 to Blackburn.

    Hope I’m wrong <cheers>

As RM thinks we're playing well then let's put in another great performance and hopefully only lose by a couple <doh>

Swansea City has signed goalkeeper Andreas Sondergaard on a deal until the end of the season, subject to EFL and international clearance.

The 22-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of January, and will wear the number 27 shirt in SA1.

He provides competition to Andy Fisher and Lewis Webb in the keeper position and bolsters head coach Russell Martin's options.

Danish youth international Sondergaard had been part of the Wolves academy since 2019, and had loan spells with Randers in his homeland and Hereford United.

Thanks Taff. Unless we get a minor miracle in terms of how we set up and play then I cant see us getting anything out of this one. I think we will score but be on the wrong end of a 3-1 defeat.

I would like us to go 433 with Walsh coming into the starting line up.

Hard to feel confident about winning any game at this point.
I don't see any improvement since RM took over - it's like Groundhog Day.
