That's what I figured, it's already a nightmare on a weekend. Costello would be good, but isn't Anlaby technically East Yorkshire? I presume you mean Anlaby Park next to the stadium? I think that just falls in the Hull boundary so it should be alright. Is East Park not an option or is there health and safety with the massive lake? Or would it be traffic related problems for the huge amounts of people getting to it?
I think the announcement of a smaller stadium as part of the complex might entice FC, especially if there's a very low rental agreement. They'd still have to use the MKM on derby days though as that's their biggest income of the season, but a 12,000 seater ground would make it feel packed out and it would show that the football and rugby club are working together, which is what you want to see. I agree about the timing, but then as a football owner you never know when the fans might turn and the longer you wait, the larger chance you have at it looking more like a vanity project or pipe dream just to save face.
'Hull City Sports Village'? I thought it was facilities for Hull City and Hull FC, even including a new stadium for FC?!!
Acun/Tan will have agreed the timing. They aren't going to tell the HDM their plans and let them report it without agreeing when it would be released.
The club employ people to deal with the media and release press statements. I'm sure something as big as this 'Sporting Village' announcement was well within their capabilitys. It just seems as though the HDM broke the news, instead of the club announcing it. It's out there now, which in itself brings all sorts of pressures upon people and bodies who really didn't need it right now, ie; the council. Remember how Steve Brady evaded the issue when the Allams first muted this?
Costello's in Hull, as are the playing fields/pitches next door, which would also have to be used (Anlaby Park is in Hull, but Anlaby Common isn't). East Park's just a pain to get to, particularly at the moment.
They have nothing to break if Tan doesn't speak to them. They have direct quotes from him. You seriously think they broke the story without the club's blessing?
Both what things?!? The headline reads "Large majority supporting moving Hull Fair to make way for Hull City sports village". Incorrect and misleading.
I don’t think it’s overly clear what facilities will be available for the general public. Certainly the training ground will be off limits. There might be more kids able to come through the academy as it’s more accessible, and the smaller stadium might be great for community events. But that’ll probably be about it I suspect. It’s why I am torn over whether it is a good place for it or not. I think it’s a terrible place for a first team training ground. The access is busy and poor and little room to expand. But then it’d be good to get the academy on the same site as the first team, and a smaller stadium sounds interesting. Need more info before I can make up my mind as to what I think. Vision sounds great though.
Is the area realistically big enough for a small stadium First team training facilities and pitches And an academy?
