I clearly remember Dawson winning us points straight after Shota left by partnering Woods with Seri for a few games on the bounce. Therefore there's a lot more to this than simply squealing "WoOdS aNd SeRi CaNt PlAy ToGeThEr!" because they already have done and we played well. There were loads of players below par the other night and we couldn't get going. It happens. The only real fault was not making a change sooner to inject some energy.
No, but if we did by some miracle get promoted this early in the project then the parachute cash would certainly help us get back up there.
Not only is this absolutely true, but also the idea of playing well and losing 4-3 that always gets quoted doesn't even really exist. No one actually plays like that. If you're open and disorganised and conceding loads then you inevitably end up not scoring much either. That's what we were at the start of this season under Shota. It's not losing 4-3 it's losing 2-0 and 3-0 game after game. I love Acun but I think that line about wanting to win 4-3 over losing 1-0 was absolute bollocks from every possible angle.
Any player can play with anyone else in whichever position but its whether it's the most effective use of the squad you have that's the question. For me they are too similar in nature to get the most from either when played together. We look better balanced with one or the other and someone a bit different as the second mid.
Didn't he clarify what he meant about that saying he knew how points worked and could count. Think some of that initial quote/soundbite got lost in translation.
Yep, spot on. Woods and Seri worked well for a while. People just always have to know the tactical answer to why we lost and it always has to be something they know but the manager didn't.
Yet more often than not Woods hasn't played with Seri under Rosenior, so maybe its just obvious based on observation?
woods is absolutely appalling defensively it wasn't as much as a problem against utterly utterly gash teams like blackpool or wigan
I thought he might be more of a 'tackling' midfielder though, none of those mentioned are except for Traore who might be!
Norwich played really well if they had played like that all season they would be in the Top 2. Seri/Woods doesn’t work but I don’t blame the coach for changing it Preston is a more important game this week. We lack pace this will need to be rectified in the summer if we are serious about mounting a promotion push.
Sorry Plum we should grasp every opportunity to get into the top flight otherwise what's the point of us all rocking up every game and not wanting to win. Should the miracle happen then this time we are a in a different situation with an owner who has ambition and a few quid behind him. Being the perpetual also ran is failure
that's the thing i was thinking about the other day 24 championship teams each season, only a few of them have a realistic chance of promotion, when things are going good behind the scenes, you have to take your shots ipswich were in the championship for 20 years straight before they got relegated preston have been here in the abyss for a looong time it took forest 20 odd years to get back l33dshite took what 17 years? good opportunities don't come around often, and it does feel like there could potentially something special brewing at city let's take it in anyway shape or form
If we got up and came down 20th we'd still be in a massively better financial position to compete than we are now.
