I'm sure if you asked Acun he would prefer to go up this year and have to look under his mattress for the funds to ensure we stay up than have another season down in the Championship preparing I am sure he would be ready to go now! Footballers generally care only about money and the level they are playing at, if we went up we would become attractive to enough talent to stay there. My worry with going up too quickly would be the manager having seen Lampard, Parker, Gerrard and even more experienced guys like Jones struggle massively with the Premier League. It is not a place to learn on the job.
Realistically I can’t see us getting to the prem with Liam, yeah he’s an improvement on Shota but that’s an incredibly low bar. Defensively he’s sorted us out but attacking wise it’s just painful to watch, seen lots of derby fans said the exact same thing so it’s obviously a flaw in his management. He’ll do for now but if we’re serious about getting to the prem I doubt it’ll be under him.
Harsh. He's only managed 27 games, not sure that's enough to identify a management flaw; hopefully he's learning quickly and a couple of astute signings over the summer gets us firing upfront.
It’s less what we do in attack and more his lack of risks. The team we put out from the get go was destined for a performance like that. Woods, Slater and Seri in the middle? Do me a favour, can’t get by in this league without any form of physicality in the middle. Simons/Doc should be playing over Woods, Slater has been **** for ages too
Or just every club has a section of fans who are never happy and are obsessed with scrutinising tactical styles without actually understanding them. Rosenior's been brilliant for us. Stick with him and we'll be promoted before too long.
Lets just say its LR first management job.... then compare him to boring boring and now anything but boring Middlesbrough under Carrick in his first job. and no parachute payment or multi million players to use as an excuse.
Boro have a much larger budget and squad value. City are going fine just a year into a new project. Bumpy start but rosies doing just fine at the moment. Let's not start looking for things to moan about.
No like I said he’s good enough for now, but unless he suddenly changes his whole philosophy I doubt we’ll ever be competing for the top spots.
Well apart from anything else, our form since he took over is almost top 6 already, and there's been clear improvement over that time. Get excited.
Could say that about most managers in the EFL. Who'd have thought Carrick would succeed where many more experienced couldn't get a tune out of them? Theres absolutely nothing wrong with his philosophy (it's no different to most up and coming managers philosophy) but I'm sure you'll hide behind the fact the even the most skillful coach needs a good dose of luck to succeed to prove your point.
Of course there’s luck involved too but from what I’ve seen so far I don’t rate how he sets up a team, especially attacking wise and unless he drastically improves that we’re always going to struggle. Defensively he’s been brilliant but attacking has been pretty dire, the lack of chances and goals show that. Hopefully this gets worked on for next season.
Don't rate it all you like. Form since he's been here puts us top 10, which is where we're budgeted to be at the moment. If we can keep improving with a bit of summer strengthening then playoffs are a realistic proposition next year. And if you think we don't create much, well we've been creating more than oppositions in most recent games but if you want to latch onto the first poor performance in 14/15 to labour your point then knock yourself out. Maybe ice hockey is more your thing, not a low scoring game like football?
