That notable font of wisdom Alan Brazil was spouting off on talkBALLS that Poch will return this summer as if it's a fact Obviously needs to be taken with an Anfield's worth of salt, but worth mentioning - especially if somebody else is our manager for our opening fixture next season
I don't wish Conte ill and hope he recovers soon but he ain't right and ain't been for a while. Maybe he knew that his friends were very ill in the months leading to their deaths or maybe the stress of not being near his family was affecting him but whatever the truth no one can fully focus and make good decisions when they are under severe stress. A proper break from things may be the thing he desperately needs. With out making this about me I know the damage that was done to my mental health after my son died at birth ... I could only afford a week off work so never properly grieved and that seriously ****ed me up for years. I hope he gets over his losses for his sake. as a club we need a manager to be fully focused so he should be given as long as he needs.
Firstly I hope Conte recovers well it's been a horrible ladt year for him. I'd be amazed if he returns before the season ends and for his sake he needs to be with his family in Italy and take a year out before returning back to management. From our perspective we need to move, on cut all ties and start again. Hopefully Stellini does a great job for the rest of the season, I would love the continuity of him taking over as manager.
I think we should be very cautious here. Yes, Stellini comes across well in press conferences despite limited English and yes he has overseen 2 victories for us, one against City, but the extent of his managerial career is a few months at a side in Italy's third division. He is 48 years of age so far too old to call a young up and coming coach. There is every argument that Ryan Mason could be just as successful if he were to take over, and I doubt too many fans would be excited about that despite an almost universal love for Mason. He just isn't perceived as 'ready'. Even if Stellini does a great job in Conte's absence, I doubt the latter will be fully 'absent'. By his own admission, he is a workaholic and I fully expect him to give the broad tactical instructions and team selection ahead of each game, so Stellini won't really be auditioning for the role of standalone manager. Pochettino makes much more sense than Stellini, and I don't want Poch back either.
I don’t think we’ll be seeing conte back on the touch line for us ever again. Maybe work out some kind of gardening leave type situation as I’d be amazed if poch isn’t coming back so get him in now and at least it gives him the season to assess and you never know, the bounce it will give might just propel us into a top 4 spot and deep run in the fa cup.
If we do bring Pochettino back, then we should get Bielsa in as our academy coach. He wanted to do it at Everton and have his staff run the first team. Surely his protege is a step up from that?
Are you suggesting the "meat is back on the menu" quote from LOTR? Hopefully you are referring to an earlier usage in Peter Jackson's brilliant first film "Bad Taste".
So it's not only the players that the club rush back into action after injury! Well, I guess we will find out if Stellini has the necessary to take the reins permanently...
‘Arry being linked with a possible return to management with Leeds… I mean… You know what I’m thinking… Right?
That sounds realistic after such an operation. I was very surprised when he returned so soon. A member of my family had a similar operation and recovery was 2 - 3 months.
