It’s good that Dan James isn’t on that list. Orta often gets blamed for that one but he was obviously a Bielsa signing.
Didn’t notice that either There is an awful amount I’d forgotten about. A very brief scan through and a lot of money in fees or wages completely wasted, a strange one as I start to think Orta hasn’t done a good job then you get a few decent ones who helped promotion and bargains like Gnonto, Alioski, Ben White (I know he was loan but the importance of that loan)
i agree it’s easy to paint whatever picture you want. You could say profits on some (whether realised or not yet) cover the losses… particularly when most of the volume comes from academy purchases. That said there have been some stinkers! It’s definitely a mixed bag. Personally I think the ‘hit’ rate has improved since we were buying for the PL. He’ll always divide opinion. I’ve mellowed to him personally. All clubs have hits and misses in the transfer market.
I’d also forgotten about Costa out on loan with Nuno Santos, so if he did take charge of us, I wonder if Costa would get another chance. Hard to see him dislodging any of the current bunch and too many ifs and buts
