Nigel is taking a risk tonight against Wigan but let's see how it works for him and us. Good luck guys. Couldn't help but notice that Steve Caulker is on the bench for our opponents after his trials and tribulatiions.
Always a gamble changing an unbeaten side; however, we have a lot of games in a short space of time, so to be fair to NP he has to shuffle the pack to keep players fresh at some point. Out of our next 3-4 games, this looks the most winnable, even with a few changes. Having Weimann fit again adds pace, and goal threat to that front line. Very interested to see how Cornick, and in particular, Mehmeti do.
mentioned this! and he does it, what if we draw 0-0 or 1-1 or heaven bid go in at half time 1 or 2 goals down... he has always said keep a winning side or a player doing well in a winning side keeps the place! HOPE IT DOES NOT ..backfire 1
An extremely well taken goal by Atkinson from a clever cross from Mehmeti. I can't help but notice that on Wigan corners we defend in depth and leave a free space just outside the box and it almost cost us when they grazed the crossbar. Surely we need to put someone on the edge of the box to defend against a free long range shot as happened just before the half. Wigan have to come at us in the second half and that will leave them vulnerable to our attack and I hope we don't sit back and defend like we have done in the past with some late losses. Playing higher up the pitch with Vyner at the back should get the job done, but we shouldn't consider it to be an easy task and if we fade a little we have some good players sitting on the bench. How nice it is to have this confidence in a team that looked lost earlier in the season, so well done Nigel and now please get the 3 points.
Sloppy sloppy sloppy defending has gifted Wigan a goal that they probably deserve. We have made the mistake again of trying to defend a one goal lead and now we have to grab this game by the nuts or we risk losing to a weak but resilient team.
A poor free kick conceded by Atkinson, then everyone caught cold with a quick free-kick, and Max didn’t cover himself in glory tbh. A poor second half from City so far. Weimann crossing has been abysmal this evening….

A very poor showing this evening 2 points dropped at home against a side in the bottom 3….The only positive was Memehti, who looked good. Weimann was very poor, Wells didn’t get a kick when he came on.
Ah well at least we didn't lose in a game that needed more life, but we did the post score 2-1 but it doesn't count. Disappointing result and at least we are looking better than last year, as in the early part of the season. I think the midweek matches stretch the resources further than we can accommodate and Wigan came looking for a single point and their determination got them the reward, no complaints from me so let's move on.
We could have had no complaints if we had lost. Very disjointed, and we only looked good for about 10 mins in the whole game, and that was after they scored to wake us up. We go again at the weekend, but if we play like that we will get thumped at Sunderland…
