Marsch had a contract to June 2025 and if true at £4.5m per year he will get all of what his contract would have paid him. if you remember Gary Monk wasn't paid millions per year but having lost his Leeds job, then his Birmingham job and then his Toro job all in a few months he happily walked away with over £8m and you aint heard from him since thank you very much. March obviously not happy picking up his £13.5m pay off from Leeds expected another long contract. Fabrizio Romano just tweeted that March wanted a long term deal, Southampton wanted a short term deal ie a rolling year contract which he wouldn't accept so everything off.
You can see why he would be nervous about a short term deal too. It only took Ristac a couple of months to work out and tell everyone everyday that he was cack
Rumour I heard, and please don’t quote me on this is, he was house hunting, met the estate agent and the rest of the story belongs on the Anything Goes thread
If our agreement is to pay his contract until he finds a new job rather than a one off severance sum, it might mean. 1. Southampton were paying him less than us. 2. Our payments stop so if they are only offering the job until the end of the season as rumoured, he loses two years money from us and might not get an extension with them.
I should have read further. Do managers really get their whole contract paid up? Chelsea certainly used to pay the sacked manager each month until they found a new job.
agreed... the idiot that sacked him We could have got the benefit of years more narrow, frantic football... vulnerable to the counter... giving the fanbase something to constantly deride and moan about thus providing escapism from our own sad, dull, unfulfilling lives. Imagine the tedium of being a mid-table premier league side. We'd have to find new interests or... even worse.... talk to our wives and children
