And it’s not like there is anyone obvious out there who would do better . We’d probably end up with a Nathan Jones ! Some saying he made a bad choice brining Kabasele on and taking Pedro off but that was probably natural with us holding on and JP just coming back from injury . I don’t think anyone in particular was at fault for the goal - but sure certain players will be picked out .
Bachman kept us in it...and we only had one shot on targtet all game...... really hurt to concede at the end......but Burnley did deserve it...... I think we looked better than previous games in a lot of areas overall... but cant expect to win if we dont do more up front........
Well at least it wasn't a hamstring... https://www.watfordfc.com/news/bilic-on-cleverley-injury-it-doesnt-look-good
How do you get injured warming up!!!! Re the last minute goal, we perhaps could have handled the game end better by dancing round a corner flag. I also notice no one was protecting the goal line by the post where the ball went in.
Yes - sounds typical of us. Must have overstretched or something . “Popped thigh” Lucky he could walk off then . Think we were caught ball watching for the corner .
Which is ironic, given that we took off a midfielder and replaced him with a defender. Not pointing the finger at Kabasele, but that gap simply shouldn't have been there with an extra defender in place. In truth, I blame the ref - he should have clamped down hard on the likes of Barnes early in the game. Had he done so, there wouldn't have been that much added time.
I really cannot get my head round some of the comments seen elsewhere about our performance yesterday. Burnley have been the outstanding side in the division this season, and you don't win ten consecutive games by being poor, but lucky. You could see why they have had such a run of victories with their quick passing, and ability to find a player in space. Despite that we came within a whisker of defeating them, not by concerted attacks on their goal, but by a very good defensive display by our back line, and an outstanding performance from Hamza Choudhury, who seemed to be everywhere. Being able to defend well is just as important as being able to attack, and when you are up against a side that has been scoring freely, I would suggest that is where you start your pre-game planning. That was an unexpected point, and was so nearly three, so I cannot join the gloomsters who think we were rubbish.
I think subbing an extra player into defence sometimes causes confusion. If they’ve played nearly 90’ with a clean sheet, shaking up the formation/responsibilities is not a good idea. I did say that to Matej at the time of the subbing, btw, in case it seems like I’m being clever with hindsight.
Complete change of topic-still within the thread. Apparently Sky showed a good picture of our grandson, during the silence (?) with me next to him-not the large geezer behind. Famous for 5 seconds ! Can you get sky matches on ‘catchup’ ?
I will have seen that... but...fans with shirts etc was one shot, another included a fella with a big beard....
From what I have seen it’s been positive about the team generally but as usual some like to pick on the same old players. Kabasele, Sarr , Bachmann. Of course I find some don’t comment at all if we do well !
