**** me, the absolute state of Sports Republic. Bunch of utter, utter morons. Get Ralph back over Selles. Jesus Christ. They honestly think the right man to lead a young inexperienced team out of relegation is a manager with no managerial experience? WTF are they doing to our club
I've said it before and I'll say it again. **** Sports Republic. The club has become a vanity project for Ted talk who thinks he can ****ing reinvent football. SR are one of the worst things to happen to our club in recent years. ****ers
SR are starting to pee me off big time. I don’t care whose making the decision’s, they are SR, overseeing SFC and ****ing us over. Really what a balls up this season.
I'm definitely getting Rupert Lowe-Clive Woodward vibes. Also, if Jeremy Wilson is correct that only a short contract will be on offer because they're worried about another payout after losing £4m on Jones then it somehow makes that appointment look even worse.
Those going overboard here seem to have missed something. SR have said a partnership between Selles and Lampard/Rooney is still a viable option. You will have read the Athletic report on Selles reading the Riot Act to several players on Monday to up their game or miss out all together, sounds good to me, time someone said it.
OK, I'm probably clutching at straws here, but to me this smacks of 'who will blink first' negotiations - Marsch (or 'his people') have walked away from the table, fully expecting SR to come up with an improved offer, either a longer contract, or better pay for the original contract. In simplistic terms, who needs who more? Is Marsch after a Premier League managerial job, so he will accept what is on offer, or will SR realise that Marsch is the best fit for the vacancy, so they will stump up more money, or a longer contract, which amounts to the same thing. Alternatively, I'm talking out of my rear end, and we're doomed
16 months/2 seasons would have suited both parties, perhaps favouring Saints. Missed a great opportunity to sign an adequate coach in a convenient time, on a contract for an appropriate duration, considering the likelihoods of next season. I starting to think the club were being quite surprisingly shrewd with the appointment.
I like how the assumption is that all it would have taken is to offer Marsch and 18 month deal. This clearly isn’t the case. He would want a long term deal - no doubt something like the 3.5 years we foolishly gave Jones. That is a much bigger difference going on and one where a middle ground also seems unlikely
2 reasons why Southampton have dodged Jesse Marsch bullet after Leeds United sack https://www.leedsallover.com/2-jesse-marsch-warnings-leeds-united-should-deliver-to-southampton/ Both the insights - perhaps unknowingly - given are that he's Ralph.
Calm down FFS. To every problem there are many solutions and the knack is to find the best fit for the circumstances. I know some have bought into the Marsch option but many of us haven't. This is the wrong time to be hurling hot headed insults around when we all need to be on the same side. Ralph had great trust in Selles recommending him for the manager's position and as I respected Ralph I can go with that. Let us see what happens over the next couple of days.
I'm thinking along the same lines. The negotiations are far more public than is the usual Saintly way and to be honest we on here know slightly less than two thirds of four fifths of **** all about football management.
I'm not in anyway fussed that Marsch has fallen through. But am I very much fussed at the thought of starting next season (in the Championship) with a new manager. Whether it's a short-term contract for Marsch (or any manager), or Selles as caretaker/interim - either way, it's a recipe for getting a new manager in place in the summer (given that I have no faith in us staying up - which is surely the only way that a short term position becomes longer). And I really, really want us to avoid that. I'm not saying that I want us to give someone a five year contract. But some degree of stability would be quite nice please. Not four managers in the space of, what, eight months would be crazy.
Selles until the end of the season, and whatever happens happens, it wont be in anyway his fault. Press the reset button , get a new guy in charge at the start of summer with a whole pre season and crack on from there.
