Good Morning. It's Wednesday 15th February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Skubala to remain in temporary charge Michael Skubala will continue in temporary charge of Leeds Utd, supported by Chris Armas and Paco Gallardo (his U21 Assistant). It has been made clear that no time restraints have been placed on the role, so should results not change for the positive, we can expect to see further upheaval. Attempts to bring in Andoni Iraola and Arne Slot have been unsuccessful. They came close to appointing former Ajax head coach Alfred Schreuder, but decided against it, following a backlash from fans. Leeds need stability at the moment, and that's what they see from Skubala, at least in the short term It may seem that every Manager Leeds approach is 'running for the hills', but taking on a Premier League relegation dog fight with 16 games remaining is a difficult gig for anyone. It's not like they can bring in any of their own players, and as such, it may be better for Leeds to appoint Skubala on a short term basis, and see where we are in the Summer. This prompts the question, were Leeds right to get rid of Marsch when they did? Should they have got somebody lined up before firing him? According to Scubala: “I have really enjoyed the experience and the team and staff have responded well. “I know I speak for Paco and Chris when I say that it is an honour to be on the touchline at this club. “We will continue work tirelessly to help to push on up the table in the short term, whilst the board focus on the long term future of the team.” please log in to view this image Saints waste no time in appointing Marsch Southampton have wasted no time, in appointing former Leeds Manager Jesse Marsch as their third head coach of the season. The move makes perfect sense for the South Coast outfit. It was obvious Nathan Jones wasn't ready for the top flight, so have severed ties (after just 94 days in charge) to bring in a natural successor to Ralph Hasenhüttl. Both coaches had previously worked the Red Bull football circuits, so it shouldn't come as a shock that their tactics are uncannily similar. It certainly adds spice to the relegation six pointer next weekend (25th) when the Saints visit Elland Road. Joffy worked his socks off for 80 minutes last night, during only his second start for the Black Cats. Former Leeds fledgling Jack Clarke grabbed a brace, bringing his tally to six goals, and six assists for the season, following his permanent move from Spurs last Summer. Although yet to open his account for Sunderland, Mowbray has faith in Gelhardt, and believes it's just a matter of time until he starts banging in the goals. “He will score goals for us,” “He’s a kid that has played 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there for Leeds United. “He’s never played 90 minutes. That’s why I’m bringing him off because I need him for Saturday to start and give us another hour or 70 minutes. “He’s strong as an ox. He works his socks off. He’s got a rocket in his left foot. He will score goals, he’s a really talented boy. “I watch him in training, I watch him linking with Patrick (Roberts) and Amad (Diallo), it’s amazing talent. “He just needs to understand how our team play, what’s the demands on him.” “He’s a young boy that’s always been behind Bamford, Rodrigo, and all these foreign players that are Leeds Premier League players. “He’s a young kid that is given 10 minutes every few weeks. For him to come into a team and ask to play 70, 80, 90 minutes in football matches every three days is a huge ask of the kid." “He’s only a baby really but he’s a wonderful talent.” please log in to view this image
Morning all If we get relegated we might need Joffy and Drameh so let’s hope they do well, it all feels too much deja vue at the minute. Two back to back wins and a cup win against Fulham and it will feel better I know. Jesse is the idiot that put us in this position, Orta the fool for not getting a coach capable of a smooth transition from Bielsa If we’d have kept Jesse we were going down, we’ve more chance of staying up without him (in my opinion). Again the idiots at the top picked a diabolical time to sack him though and someone obviously felt it was going to be an easy replace. Orta has to be treading on thin ice, he’s made some huge cock ups
Morning all. Im past bothering to comment on the present goings on. Just enjoy the two or three wins coming up. Might take three games or rest of season
Morning all. Nothing to add to what's already been said and can't see anything happening to change that before Saturday. May as well read a book.
This club was every football fans 2nd team and the worldwide viewing figures backed that up. But sheer incompetence going back 18 months has seen them sack the iconic Bielsa, refuse to bring in new blood for Bielsa which left him high and dry. The idiocy of employing Marsch on a lucrative 4 years contract only to sack him 11 months in is the height of stupidity. Employing someone who you had scouted for 2 years because you thought he was ideal for the squad he takes on only to find out he wasn’t the right choice birders on criminal. Refusing to sack him at the optimum time when a replacement could transition properly during a 5 week mid season break, only to sack him a month after the break ended again was stupid. Convincing the owner that it would be hours before we saw white smoke will have enraged Radz as he’s now a laughing stock. The club is the butt of many jokes now so well done board
Agree with all that but glad it's you saying it Doc and not me. I dread to think the reaction Id get from Certain posters if I dared come out with that
Ah nearly forgot. Might have a good rant myself later as it's probably good for the soul. Season Ticket renewals due out soon as well, which will be interesting given the increased costs to the club with inflation running at 10%+ and energy costs much much higher.
I can't believe fans are laying into Orta. He's been a God send. Corberan Bielsa U21's Gnonto Raphinha Wober McKennie Adams
Bielsa's time was up. Thw writing was on the wall after his post match presser against Spurs that he wouldn't change a thing, having conceded something like 20 goals in February and ignoring his players pleas to change tactics.
Hasn't taken much has it for fans to turn on Orta & the owners/board at Leeds Spent £70/80M in January and hoped Jesse would get us the necessary result at Forest to move us up the League. Yes maybe Jesse should have gone before the WC, but when you've just beaten Liverpool away that would have been a very tough call. So before it all start to turn vitriolic down at ER maybe fans should instead get behind the club and support us through a tough period. It's easy with hindsight to say mistakes have been made but it's how we deal with the challenges ahead that will now define the immediate future of our club. Turn into the Everton fanbase at our peril.
Unlike some I don’t believe a thing that comes out of LS11 It’s getting a bit like he said she said All I know is we’re in a right mess and it’s not my fault but wish scoobi all the very best And to all those who wish to have a go at him (Scoobi)for Christ sake shut up vent against those who are responsible
Always been a big Victor fan is he has saved the club millions, made the club millions but his Marsch decision was wrong in every respect and him convincing Radz to give Marsch longer meant we couldn’t bring in a manager we wanted.if he had allowed the board to sack Marsch before the break all would be good, but imagine relegation happening and he will be the cause. He has nothing to do with Bielsa not getting the players that was the board so this isn’t an attack on Victor but unfortunately the Marsch episode could kill him
Time for a rant. If the Elland Road crowd chant anything negative when we play Southampton we deserve all we get. The owners should pull the financial support, sell to some cheap (skint) middle eastern bank and watch us rot down in the lower Leagues. Radrizani, the 49ers & Orta are all we've got to get this club moving and they've done wonders in such a short space of time. Yes mistakes have occured and are now costing us but we must pull together and strain every sinew to overcome them, not turn inwardly on our own. Stop being a bunch of entitled c*nts and support your club. KEEP ON FIGHTING that's the opposition and not ourselves.
Great post mate I will however say that for a year the club has stood still. We are no further forward in terms of points, games won, goals conceded so we have stagnated as a club and all because of the Marsch debacle. Think we all agree that the squad is better which means in real terms the club have gone backwards. I’m angry, very angry because the Marsch decision could mean seismic shocks for the club. There is 3 parts to this debacle: Scouting Marsch for 2 years thinking he was the ideal coach to take over from Bielsa. Wrong. Giving him a contract to 2025 makes me think Marsch was brought in to oversee relegation and then build a team to get promotion. He hasn’t been good enough for competing in the prem so the contract makes no sense and is a very costly mistake as can be seen by his payout. Not getting rid before the World Cup break could now kill the club
Put this on yesterday’s thread Read something on another forum from a guy generally a reliable source. Puts the current situation at Radz door. Says new purchases come from 49ers and are ring fenced. Existing sales proceeds go to radz… radz tried to sell cresswell and Harrison. Cresswell refused to go, 49ers stepped in over Harrison and paid radz to stop the sale. Radz then sacked marsch last Monday seemingly on a whim, hence no one firmly lined up. Radz and orta not on speaking terms. Hey could be bollox, don’t shoot the messenger but sounds very leedsy
