Pearson didn't apply (but made it clear he was hoping to be approached). Clark didn't apply (because he turned it down flat even though Leicester supporters on here were convinced he would be their new manager). Pearson was approached (because there was no one else left). Clark wasn't (because he turned you down flat)
Pearson>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Clark. We wouldn't have wanted Clark over Pearson. The Leicester fans who believed we were getting Clark (and believe me, I wasn't one) were basing this on bookie odds, which in turn are based on betting. I don't think anyone is disappointed it wasn't Clark. Clark said he wasn't interested in the Leicester job only after days of speculation, when obviously he knew there was no truth in the rumours because he hadn't been approached. He didn't rule himself out immediately. Besides, I think Clark knew the job was too big for him. Pearson would have been second choice for me (after O'Neill), so hardly a case of "no-one else left". Billy Davies and Dave Jones (and I think Mark Hughes, but that's not been verified) were DEFINITELY interviewed for the job and didn't get it.
What I mean by loyalty is that Clark didn't put money above football ethics. If he comes here we know it will be for football reasons as he already turned down the chance of mega-bucks at Leicester.
I am as worried about the loss of the scouting going forward because I am sure that he would take his mates with him ... We have fared quite well with the contacts so far
I totally agree with you here. What I was trying to say (although I didn't say it very clearly) is that he's never been in a position (until now) where he has actually needed to show his loyalty to the club. It was a large assumption that he was a 'honest, decent man' etc. I think money speaks over ethics/contracts and agree with what Lesta Gangsta is saying. This will easily be the largest contract in Nigel's career as I don't feel he's going to be a premier league manager. So congratulations to him for that.
"Whether he was or not is irrelevant. He was their second choice after MON so he could have taken the NP route if he chose but he didn't." de ja vu
He'll be a Prem manager alright, next season with us! And trust me, Clark "rejecting" the job as you put it was more to do with him standing little chance of getting it than anything.
he didn't go? Say, there was a breakdown, or other complication, and NP stayed as Hull City manager? I'm always for getting behind the manager, regardless of what happens, but have to admit that it would be difficult to support him after this. This is all hypothetical of course, we know NP is going, and that Alex Ferguson is looking for a new challenge...
Haaaa haaaaa haaaaaa. Definitely but not verified!!!! That is like saying I've definitely won the lottery but I just have to check my ticket! Sir! The ineptitude you display makes me smile!!!!
