    Some surprises in here.
QPR and Reading seem surprisingly low to me, as is Birmingham and Blackburn.
On the other hand, the Coventry and Huddersfield attendance seems (to me) higher than I’d expect.

QPR never been a really a big one [ like Bournemouth and Burnley ] Reading when in Prem drew more from being outside London
COVENTRY when in "form" seem to be reasonable [ again like Reading draw from country side around them! ]
not looked at the chart yet so cant reason for Huddersfield gate HI or Low ..

QPR are limited by their location and can’t expand their stadium
Bournemouth are only getting 10k gates in the Prem but again are limited by the size and location of their ground

Nudging 20k a home game average. Pretty respectable tbh, especially given our league finishes the last couple of seasons.

In the 1980s I used to stand in the East End half way back behind the goal and we used to see the same old faces there in their 'patch'. I particularly remember a chap who stood a few steps in front of me smoking a pipe. I remember the smell of his tobacco wafting up - I actually found it quite pleasant - there were far worse smells in that stand, but it wouldn't be allowed now of course.
Although I tend to remember those times fondly, if I stop and think about it, it actually wasn't that great - the football was Div 3/4 (current leagues 1/2), the pies and burgers were horrible, No beer at half time - and if you needed a pee you had to go to a concrete shed in the top corner which absolutely stunk of p!ss but at least you could stare through a gap at the top of the wall and see the game whilst relieving yourself!
The only good thing about that time was the 'surge' forward when we scored. Again, not possible now.

When I first started going with my Uncle as a kid in the late 60's we used to go in the Enclosure below the Williams Stand and we were there for the 1971 LC Semi Final first leg against Spurs which was a 1-1 draw. We lost the 2nd leg 2-0 in Extra Time at White Hart Lane.
When I was a little older we started going to the Open (Park) End and we were there for the FA Cup 5th and 6th round games against Leeds and Liverpool (both in excess of 38,000) in 1974
After my Uncle stopped going, I gravitated towards the East End and stayed there. When my Son started going in the mid 90's we bought season tickets for Block D of the Dolman.

"TERRITORY!" in the open end we had our spot! behind us was a barrier! and we were slightly to the right side of the goal about 10 rows or back could see the "dug out activity" and the whole of the other end goal back to about the 6 yd box and 10yd box about 3/4 + of way across . There was always a group of us every game knew by sight most by name ... heaven forbid anyone tried to "poach the space" ... they soon got the message as they got crowded out! Favourite comment was hey SID see your space of the past 20 years has someone poaching it ... and then about x number of faces all turned to the perpetrator and gave a stare ... [ apologies reading this anyone was a victim back then in 60's 70's early 80's ! ]

He’s on quite a long contract as it is, so should he go in the summer we have a strong hand. Obviously it would be nice if he stays and goes up with us, but he will play in the PL at some point soon.
